A decent input quantisation function would have to be implemented in XT, because it would be impossible for a plugin to quantize notes to a point before the song's current position.

i dunno too much about ext yet but if the cables send the signals then i think if you put a quantizer in the signal chain* before what you wanted to be quantized then it should work(i think)robenestobenz wrote:A decent input quantisation function would have to be implemented in XT, because it would be impossible for a plugin to quantize notes to a point before the song's current position.

Wow... amazing thread...
I recently posted an idea for a midi plugin in the DSP / Plugin development forum, but maybe I should have rather posted here:
I hate midi controllers that have only a limited number of setups for some VSTi's (or a fixed one, like the otherwise great MS-20 Controller or some synth keyboards), or that are difficult to program or otherwise difficult to use.
Wouldn't it be much greater, if you could insert a midi plugin in the track that maps a generic midi controller setup (all 128 controllers, maybe as a simple matrix or even with functions like inverted or min / max values) to the VST-plugin on that track? That way you would never have to change the midi setup on your controller (or if you forgot, that it screws up your synth patch, because you sent the wrong controller number). Instead you just select the track and use the same knob / slider for filter cutoff etc. This would be so much straight forward for working with controllers...
There's some cc mappers out there, but they usually only map one controller value or a few, not a whole map and they can't save their setups...

I guess midi-ox can do elaborate mappings and even conversion between midi data types. But it's a stand-alone, not a midi (MFX?) plugin, or am I wrong?
The beauty of having a plugin do this would be that you could have a different mapping for each track and the specific VSTi on that track... that way when you select a different track in your host, the correct mapping is already there...

there is a kind of quantisation plugin at among nicfits midi plugs...but i think, it's made for triggering sequences ...laserbeak wrote:anyone know any inpit quantizarion plugins?
do you want to trigger sequences in time or quantisation of Keyboard-input ?

Well you dont even need to use the walkthrough then to do that
Live mode will quantise input for triggering sequences, In fact thats it's job hahahahaha, What i came up with was way way more complicated and totally uneeded for that, Maybe i should have asked you for more info in the original thread hahahahahahahahah.

This sounds perfect. I'm thinking of buying the Novation Remote SL 37 as my main controller, as it seems to do everything I want in one unit.. and it features an Automap which works just like you are mentioning. It only currently works with Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Reason.. but hopefully this can be built into eXT. If we could also have a built-in and/or VST Plugin VST-controller-mapping like you have explained, we could use generic controllers as well (but not in as nice a way ..as the Remote SL has LCD displays for each controller and displays parameters names/controller values).c_huelsbeck wrote:The beauty of having a plugin do this would be that you could have a different mapping for each track and the specific VSTi on that track... that way when you select a different track in your host, the correct mapping is already there...

no actualy im not just triggering sequences but im using the slicer to alter them as well(if i can) i'm new to xt and havent even had time to use my own computer so ive been using manuals and trying to get it to run on public computers that wont let me install anything using simple vst hosts and the vst of xtNAS wrote:Well you dont even need to use the walkthrough then to do that

Sounds a bit like what ControlFront was intended forc_huelsbeck wrote:Wouldn't it be much greater, if you could insert a midi plugin in the track that maps a generic midi controller setup (all 128 controllers, maybe as a simple matrix or even with functions like inverted or min / max values) to the VST-plugin on that track?
