In the "free" world, newspaper journalists would call up or try and investigate a little (maybe even on foot) what is going on, when a company suddenly just goes to the ground.

( when a footballer is sold it is always listed for an "undisclosed amount", but for some reason or other, journalists working in that area manage to dig out the actual going price )

But Computer Music, Future Music, MusicRadar et al, not interested in getting a story.
why would anyone go digging around at this point ?? there is a very high likelihood that they have been bought out, and that public knowledge could jeopardise the deal

who would really want to compromise that ??

i am not suggesting that this story just die, but it is becoming clearer that the date at which downloads stops is going to be significant, and that we will likely not know anything till then. if it gets to august without news, then i'll contribute to your air-fare to scotland so you can go kick some doors down

This is what Music Radar managed to write:
We've contacted Camel Audio for confirmation that this is indeed the end for the company, which is known for its excellent Alchemy synth (voted one of the best plugin synths in the world today) and 'Camel' series effects. We're sure we echo the feelings of many computer musicians when we say that we're sad to see it go; if you are a user of its products, make sure you follow the advice to download and back up your software on the Camel Audio website.
Wow, some really insightful journalism there :o
What are you expecting from journalists? You can only make a story when people are telling you something. If you encounter a crying woman in a crushed down house, and she's yelling some conspiracy stories around, you can notice it and research about it... If you encounter a crying woman in a crushed down house, and she doesn't say anything, there's nothing to write about...

Even the rudest boulevard journalists cannot kidnap and torture Ben to get to know the truth...

Well, I don't think MusicRadar is cut from that cloth nevertheless, their news item about this reads more like an informercial:

"which is known for its excellent Alchemy synth (voted one of the best plugin synths in the world today"

@pentool - apologies for the delayed response, I replied to you via support earlier, but thought I'd best put something here too.
This doesn't sound like an issue with the demo etc. but more an issue with Live's clip properties being set with a bank change number?
Does the same thing happen if you try in a fresh, empty project with a freshly created MIDI file?
You could send the existing Live project file into us if you like and we'll see if we can recreate the problem in Live and work out what's happening.

Thanks,
Oliver
Does that sound like a company that's planning on closing down....the next day ? :?

Or a response from a support person who knows that's his last day at work ?

(While I believe it is a sale) A patent infringement case could also be a possibility. It could be a patent troll situation even (though not as common in UK/Euro). Who knows what algorithms lurk in the bowels of some large corporations?

Best case scenario:

Apple bought them to integrate into GarageBand as Alchemy 2 - and who knows? It could be sold by them as a separate ios synth - if you haven't already, please take a look at what's going on with the ipad, with Alchemy being one of the Crown Jewels on the iOS platform - FLstudio, Cubasis, Korg and their Gadget with audio track integration next, 48-track Auria with plugin support, etc.

Apple may be getting ready to do more with GarageBand - simple as that. They're super rich, so the expansion with Alchemy would make sense.

Quickly: when lawyers get involved: everyone has to shut the hell up - no choice.

The Scandi airline SAS was threatened by bankruptcy back in 2013, and I was actually flying with them a couple of hours before the deadline of them closing down.

All their personell flying was adviced to take with them money, in case the planes wouldnt be able to return to homebase.

And yet under this kind of pressure, all the personell I encountered on that flight was thinking more of being of service to me and the other passangers than to themselves and their job.

If it had been me, I had probably called in sick that day
