This one is going to get me a deal when some particularly astute exec realises that this could be the totally inexplicable 'Summer Hit' for 2005. :)

Sunshine

I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day
I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day

Spread a little sunshine in someone’s life today
The world can be happy if we just show them the way
Teach them the game of living,
Show them the joy of giving
Teach them to smile on life and say,
Spread a little sunshine today.

I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day
I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day

Indigo children, growing up in the world today
Their dreams are rainbows, they come to show us the way
Teach us the game of living
Show us the joy of giving
Teach us to smile on life and say
Spread a little sunshine today.

Tracktion, AlgoN, Guitars through FreeAmp_SE, GlaceVerb,T-Sledge, Final Mix, tidied up in Wavelab.

This is my first submission in this forum, and had a lot of trouble with the direct link. I think that it's fine right now!

When it rains put undercover yourself.
If the power pours on you put undercover your soul.

Well here it is - Deal with It!
I Thought I'd hand over the lyrics/vocals to my bro this month since he has a bit more pop sensibilty than I. He did a great job 8)
(He's my personal session drummer as well. Talented lad is he :D )

Stuff Used
Drums – Stylus RMX
Bass – Karnage (Thanks Krim! :))
Guitar – Peavey T-60 thru Korg Px3 fx, layered with Slayer on solo
Phaze String – StringSynth
Arpy sound - Vanguard
Whicka Waks – Albino
Brass – Proteus 2000
Betabugs - SimpleSqueeze on main out

Deal With It
I’m fightin’ this feelin’ inside of me
Can’t take it, can’t break it
I can’t pin down just what you are to me
Is this love or am I fakin’ it
I try and hide what I’m feelin’
But I can’t run and hide
It’s time to come alive
I think it’s time that I show you
Here’s what I’m feelin’, I’m dealin’ with it.

I’m sorry baby, I’m tryin’ to deal with it
You start my engine, but I’m not steerin’ it
Please hear me baby, oh put your ear to it
My heart is pumpin’, why are you beatin it?

I’m sorry baby, I’ve signed a deal with it
You start my engine, but I’m not steerin’ it
Please hear me baby, oh put your ear to it
My heart is pumpin’, why are you beatin it?

THE MAKING OF RICKY KREWS

The numbers are beyond super for GFS...We are taking the Monkees/Eminem thing to a whole new level. We no longer have to hire some sullen kid with fame, drugs and prostitutes. All we need to do is hire a desperate and starving work for hire computer geek to create all product content, music, video etc. with their computers. (we pay nothing for software or hardware)

After all our retina tests and focus groups have shown our captive consumers really don't care if stars are real or manufactured.

This campaign starts with 3 weeks of media blitz saturation of every media outlet that we own (just about every newspaper, tv station, network, and magazine), We will push the phenomena of how this kid Ricky Krews got to be a star playing his life story of how he became a star. Revenue streams to include dvds, music cds, the making of, merchandise, and of course tv spin-offs (cartoons, psuedo-reality productions etc).

LYRICS

The Making of Ricky Krews
c2005 by Global Fascist State Inc.

This is the song
I sing in a movie
where I play myself
singing this song

Chorus:
Ricky Krews Is Ricky Krews In Ricky Krews

This is the story
of my rise to fame
from an unknown
to a box office name

Chorus

See me do anything
to get the part
of the star who
will do anything

To hear my voice
play the cd
to see my smile
run the d v d

Chorus

PRODUCTION NOTES

Hi,

this is first time i submit a song here :D

I'm really happy with the first half of the track (kind of synth pop sound, i guess). The second half was basically improvization that intend to develop later.

The track was sequenced on eXT  . Synths: Albino, Crystal. Sample hits: several CM issues

It's called The Kube, hope you like :)

edit: changed url to

I honestly thought I'd have to pass this month, but a quick weekend seession yielded this stupid, shitty rock piece:

Sign Me

Post

If this is supposed to be "the track thats going to secure your inevitable major label record deal", that means demo-quality is quite acceptable! :P

After all, it's all about the chorus, right?

Broken (raw demo mix)
http://www.markleford.com/music/files/0 ... kenraw.mp3
I don't know what to do
You said we're finally through
And kicked me out on the street

If I could only stay
There's got to be a way
To worship down at your feet

Thought we were doing fine
You say I have no spine
I'll go wherever you lead

Why do you call me a "freak"
I can't help being this weak
Because you're so cruel to me

Chorus:

Can't you see
It's no mystery
How I wind up
On my hands and my knees

When I'm slapped in the face
I fall down in disgrace
I am broken
I actually woke up one morning last month dreaming of the chorus to this song, so I immediately went to the PC and recorded the vox a capella. Tip o' the hat to early 90's cybercore and industrial acts: that was the period during which I still thought I could be signed. I'm still wondering which band I subconsciously lifted this from, in fact!

Seemed like a good month to dust it off, but not *too* much polish, eh? ;) Watch out for levels: it's really gritty.

Formula for a pop song:

1. Take a simple and undemanding chord progression
2. Add guitars (a bit of a challenge for a non-guitar player like me!)
3. Write lyrics that cater for the lowest common denominator teenager. As they generally have a limited range of emotional experiences, this generally means writing about "lurv"
4. Make sure the chorus has a catchy "hook" - something that is repeated several times that people can't get out of their head, no matter how annoying it is.
5. Process the buggery out of the song to make it sound classy
6. And most importantly, use Autotune to cover up the fact that you cannot actually sing in tune

I'm not sure how much of the above I actually achieved, but I tried!

The result is....

Thanks for the Memories
