Fukpig - Spewings From A Selfish Nation, Belief Is The Death Of Intelligence & Batcave Full Of Bastards EP. Because a few of us want the lads to get on tour as its been awhile...Shymond can work his magic i am hoping!
Anaal Nathrakh - Passion, Its not thier best but the work that has obviously go into it shows, They are definately not stagnating. Its a bit of a grower
Vader - Welcome To The Morbid Reich, Another mention for this one as these guys, Peter in particular just never fail. The record is easily one of the highlights of 2011 so far for me
Mastodon - The Hunter, Have not bothered to pick it up yet after being very dissapointed with both 'Blood Mountain' and 'Crack The Skye'. Not even heard a track yet or even a snippet
Machine Head - Unto The Locust (I am still undecided on this one, The trademark rhythm guitar sound has lost some of its cut/edge for a more fuzzy/undefined 'tone', Some killer riffs and parts as always. The only reason i can think of for the 'meh' rhythm guitars sound is there choice
to use bloody pop rock muppets Green Day's own studio...Robb you should of just called Colin Richardson IMHHO as he never gets it wrong, Sneap would of been fine also Mr.Flynn)
Not Enjoyed/Liked Much At All:
Dream Theater's Latest 'A Dramatic Turn Of Events - That synth gimp JR has pushed his junk right up in the mix, Drowning out all but the vocal when virtuosoing and LaBrie's vocals just do not doing anything for me, I much preffered ex-drummer MP's vocal and attitude he gave to the mix. Its a shame as MM is a totally world class drummer also
Opeth - Heritage. Watershed was a dissapointment, This one is what they or rather Mikael has been boardering on doing for years now. The Mellotron, The Wurly, The Hammond and whatever else sound fantastic. However the other parts are treading water. I had to immediately listen to 'My Arms, Your Hearse' and a few Bloodbath records/EPs to remember what i love about Akerfeldt. Its probably a great record if put up against other bands doing a similar thing but it is not for me. However the way it has been executed is top class and worth listening to for the afforementioned Key playing/sections
Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus, Well i thought that Cryptopsy lost the plot in 09' with thier last record which saw them jump aboard the 'deathcore' sort of vibe and the results are still cringe worthy listening...Morbid Angel or rather Vincent has taken losing the plot to a whole new level! It is an album missing at least three members and sounds like a really crap attempt at a sort of 'industrial-style' reworking of/remix of domination minus all the elements which make domination a good album. They might as well just hooked up with that Skrillex and done a dubstep record. 8 Years for that heap of shit? Nice one
It makes said Cryptopsy album (Worship Your Demons) sound fantastic
Whilst only back in may Erik Rutan was/is on fire again via Hate Eternal's Phoenix Amongst The Ashes
Erik you never let the side down man
and again on my best of 2011 list for sure
Oh and The Haunted's 'Unseen' is/has been getting torn apart by the majority but it is a really good record. If they want the death/thrash then One Kill Wonder is in thier collections and The Crown's discography covers that plus last but not least the latest Nightrage record, It is nothing that was going to reinvent the wheel or be that surprising but it just 'works' for me the balance of meldoy, speed, vocals and tight playing between each of the guys
All just my humble honest opinion for what it is worth and there have been plenty of good releases and alot more good ones to come. Some i have no doubt forgot to mention
All the best to all

An abomination, that album...and not in a good way. Blending Industrial and Death Metal was done (much better) by Meathook Seed nearly 2 decades ago (the Embedded album). MA are late to the party, and this failure sounds dated and bad.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus, Well i thought that Cryptopsy lost the plot in 09' with thier last record which saw them jump aboard the 'deathcore' sort of vibe and the results are still cringe worthy listening...Morbid Angel or rather Vincent has taken losing the plot to a whole new level!
