Every G&L I ever played was huge. The were way to heavy for me to consider buying.

It's the strat sound that I want. But mostly the neck position. Then it has the bucker for the rock stuff. I'm going to go back over there and play it again. The neck isn't quite as wide as an ibby, but I'm a bit concerned. Funny though, it played like a dream and bends were where it was comfy.
Seriously, I've completely given up on the whole "fast" thing. Just makes my arm hurt and sounds like shit. I envy guitarists that can do that. I can't.

Yeah, I get ya but I'm not ready for a "U" or "V" neck. The new tele I've got has a standard "C" neck that is fatter then my strat which is a modern "C". It's also flatter. My strat has a 9 1/2 inch radius. It bends great but sometimes I like the exta beef of the tele. The tele has a little more fight to the bend which I like. it also rings out more bending and that I really like as well...That of course has to do with having string through design. Most of my electrics have standard tremelo arms. I just wish I could bring down the action of the tele just a little bit. It needs fret leveling as well as nut adjustment. I'm not a tech. I don't have the tools and the money isn't there to take it to a tech.
My strat has the original lace sensor gold which.... while they've got no noise also don't have any punch. As well there is no "out of phase" knofler type inbetween tones. It's the blandest strat I've ever played. but because I've mostly been a backup guitarists playing rhythm it's worked well for me in band situations.
Also while my little pignose amp is getting some noise from the tele the rest of my gear seem to reject it. The pignose is a good 35 years old and it may be that the wiring is just gone.

I bought it. 15% off, 18 mo financing no interest, 30 day return policy. It's a beaut. The MM is going back. There are some issues with it. It's really sad, it's a wonderful instrument.
Back to the strat, it's HUGE sounding! I mean, I can't believe a stock fender sounds this huge! Cuts like a knife, in a good way. That atomic humbucker is REALLY high gain
And that "strat" sound with all positions except the bucker, which is fine because not having a grinder gets boring imho. Has the S1 stuff too, but I don't get too into switching. It has an "all in" switch which just puts the bucker in. So you can set up all the tone/volume for let's say the neck pup and then with a switch go hyper.
Plays like a dream, off the shelf setup is good, and that trem! It's insane, it totally stays in tune and flutters like mad. The new fenders have a pop-in arm and it stays back which is where I like it.
One negative. It's like all other fenders I've owned in that the sheilding sucks ass. 60 bucks will fix that, but I'm kinda pissed.
It's hard to be fickle, but this may solve some of my issues.

You will and will love it. A lot of times I'll pull up an amp setting with one guitar and then think.... If I only had "x" pickup setting then change guitars to match the prefered amp setting. Like playing with my tele and then thinking I need a neck humbucker so I (don't shoot me) switch to the LP or my Freeway.hibidy wrote: Has the S1 stuff too, but I don't get too into switching.
What type of neck is it? U, V, C, Modern C?

Modern "C" is what the specs say. It's slick. Satin finish and it's a compound radius. Can bend with no issues anywhere so far as I can tell.
Just changed the strings. Painless. It has the locking tuners so it's snip and lock. Getting the pickguard plastic off is a challenge though!

So you haven't totally given up on playing fast. Modern C's are my preferred neck. (on my strat and on my freeway). It's really a nice comfort neck when the fretboard has a 9 1.2 inch radus. Make it much more comfortable when barring chords.

9 1/2 to 14 compound radius.
I don't have the fingers for all the acrobatic stuff. I wish my ibbys were good enough and I didn't have to go through this again.
Unless I find something wrong with this like the MM, it's more than I can ask for. I hope I'm not getting excited for nothing. This has got to be the 20th guitar/bass I've had since this thread has been around

Damn that's my parker neck. It's actually easier (except for those super extended fingerings) to get around on the neck.

My Ibanez destroyer is my most comfortable guitar. If I was getting another guitar I would try to get some of those qualities like flatter radius and upper fret access. I'm not really an Ibanez fanboy though, I don't yet know my favourite brand so not sure what is next for me.
