probably between 12 and 14 hours I'll have trilian.

Then of course will be the install (on two hd's xp/vista) which means it'll be well after dinner before anything gets "done".

Weirdly enough, I found out that OS X installs much faster than Windows.

New Version Includes 64-Bit Native Windows Support and Trilian Library Integration

BURBANK, CA - NOVEMBER, 2009 - On the heels of the release of their epic new Trilian® Total Bass Module virtual instrument, Spectrasonics has announced the release of version 1.1 of their award-winning Omnisphere® Power Synth - featuring native 64-bit Windows support, core library integration with Trilian and more. The new v1.1 is also Mac and Windows 32-bit compatible. For users who have both virtual instruments, sounds from Trilian can now be opened inside Omnisphere - allowing deeper editing of the Trilian sounds, as well as the creation of layers and splits with both instruments' sounds in the same environment. The Omnisphere v1.1 update is free to all Omnisphere users as a download from the Spectrasonics website.

Omnisphere is Spectrasonics' flagship virtual instrument, which combines a wide variety of hybrid realtime synthesis techniques, a massive library of remarkable 'Psychoacoustic' sounds, and many innovative features. The Trilian library integration feature in version 1.1 now expands Omnisphere's capabilities by providing thousands of new sounds to work with inside Omnisphere. The 1.1 update also gives users additional software support for Trilian's multichannel soundsources, release layers, round robin samples, and special legato articulation triggering. Omnisphere 1.1 also adds new Memory Management, Sample Thinning and the "Lite Version" feature also found in Trilian for faster loading and auditioning of sounds.

Omnisphere v1.1 is now 64-bit native for the Windows platform, allowing much greater amounts of RAM to be accessed in 64-bit hosts, as well as even better STEAM Engine performance. Version 1.1 includes a new "Lite Version" button in the browser, which loads a smaller selection of any patch's samples - a great time saver when users browse many sounds exploring what might work best for a project. When the correct patch is decided on, the user can simply turn off the Lite Version button and the full patch will be loaded.

For realtime performance, the integration of Trilian patches inside Omnisphere v1.1 is ideal for live players. For example, in Stack Mode, users who own both programs can easily set up a Trilian bass sound in the left hand and crossfade to multiple Omnisphere 'keyboard synth' sounds in the right hand, each with user definable split points.

Omnisphere version 1.1 also includes various interface improvements found in Trilian as well as RTAS support for any number of processors on Pro Tools systems.

Omnisphere v1.1 New Features at a Glance:

Trilian Library Integration - Support for loading Trilian factory soundsources, patches and multis in Omnisphere

64-bit native support on Windows

Support for new STEAM Engine features introduced in Trilian, including: Round Robin soundsources, Release layers, Multichannel soundsources, Legato articulation triggering

Memory Management features:'Lite Version' feature, sample thinning, training/purging for maximizing efficiency and faster loading/auditioning

Various interface improvements - Soundsource Zoom page mixing, Edit page soundsource images, memory meter, etc.

RTAS support for any number of processors in Pro Tools
Omnisphere has an MSRP of $499 US and €379 Euro.

The v1.1 update is free for all registered users and is now available as a download from the updates page.

No, it's quite different. The Preview Load function only loads a single note or note range. The Lite Version function actually thins the samples in realtime in lots of different ways....keymapping, velocity range, legato, round-robin, etc. So you can actually play the sound across the full range now, just with less samples. You can determine how it thins the sounds too...including limiting it to certain notes in a scale, etc. It's pretty flexible.

You can start a thread here on KvR if you like. There are lots of suggestions posted here that we read.

Native 64-bit support in OSX for Omnisphere and Trilian is in the works right now, but no official release date has been announced yet.

64-bit support on the Mac for music apps and plug-ins is in it's infancy right now. So far, the only real 64-bit hosts that have been released are VE-Pro and AU Lab, and VE-Pro's only been out a few weeks....but more hosts are emerging each week.

So we are testing the 64-bit Mac waters with Stylus RMX right now....it's currently 64-bit native on both platforms and we are using it to get some solid feedback from the new users on Mac 64-bit hosts as we are working on the 64-bit native OSX versions of the STEAM based instruments like Omnisphere and Trilian.

But rest assured, 64-bit cross platform across the whole product line is a high priority for Spectrasonics. :-)

Hope that's helpful info.

Cheers,

Has Omni ever got better with cc's and SL's from Novation? I'm building my new DAW soon, and am interested in both Omni and Trillian, BUT getting OMNI to play right with automap was a pain last time I had it. Are you guys working with Novation yet?
I've found a SL and Omni template on the novation site, but it reads like it's a terrible workaround still. Any changes planned,I may hold off to hear.

Great news it's working on x64 btw.

thanks...

well i just set up my new user account and have the updates installed...i will try it all out later on today

while i have your ear, there are 2 requests ( i will start a seperate thread)

1) instant 'favourites' button assignment...adding tags is just sooooo 2006
2) up/down arrows in each of the seperate browser windows.....especially with the 4 smaller boxes..to allow for amall nudges up or down list for those who can't use a mouse and scroll wheel

but more importantly, i can't register

logic won't allow me to paste and the response code keeps getting flagged as incorrect, even though i can't spot any errors...i have typed it in4 times now...and it's waaaaaay long

Can you reduce the GUI load time and memory print for an empty instantiation please. It's taking around 9 seconds on an 8 core Mac Pro to open Omnisphere's GUI.

I just checked
Omnisphere takes roughly 3 seconds to open and eats about 50 MB of RAM with no patch loaded
on my 2.8 ghz Macpro 8core.

Strange...on Windows (in both Reaper and Sonar), opening Omnisphere's GUI bumps up my DAW's RAM usage by about 200MB. I can open a session that has Omnisphere already in it and the memory usage is much more minimal, but the first time I open the GUI, instant 200MB jump. (I think opening the GUI on Stylus RMX eats up about another 100MB or thereabouts on my system.) I wonder why the difference in RAM usage - is there a setting in Omnisphere that decreases its base RAM footprint without seriously impacting performance?

Granted, I could largely eliminate RAM as an issue by just upgrading to Win7 x64. I'm just putting it off because the thought of setting up my system all over again right now makes my head hurt, LOL.
