Anyone having problems with saving their own preset info? I made 10 patches and saved them all under my name with their respective attributes and today I open them up and even though in the browser they are still sorted by my name, type etc, in the preset information they are all listed under Kelvyn Ford and with type as "init", style "all" and feeling "big" which is not what I saved them with.

I am experience this behaviour now with brick's new soundbank - seems
there's a bug with the preset browser.

Yes - even Laurent's presets show as Kelvyn's now - he has assimilated the entire preset library!

They are being sorted correctly though in the columns so it must just be the "Preset information" window that is broken.

Oh another bug with the preset information window is:

Select "create new bank" - it opens a panel to input a name but if you have changed your mind there is no cancel button so you can't get out of it without closing the synth gui

However if you do that and then reopen it the keyboard and everything else in that part of the gui has vanished1

Here's a draft Kore template for Synthix with all the knobs mapped for performance fun - not sure what to do about all the buttons yet as I haven't worked out what they all do myself (a confusing abundance of buttons) and I think some features like the layers are still unresolved so it's basic at the moment.

also the zip includes a small bank of 12 patches so even if you don't have Kore you can use these. Just sounds I liked as I was playing around with it so nothing that well designed.

Will be interested to know if they import correctly as mine or Kelvyn's

Strange I had the same bug with the beta 4, and after it was solved on my system, but maybe it has to be corrected for another OS/Platform/ aso.

If the presets are well sorted it means that :

1/ The presets are properly stored
2/ Its only a bug at the level of the info box, ie how the info box retrieves information from the database and/or displays them.

But at least presets themselves and taggs are safed.

It could help if you could add some (brief) details on your system, mainly OS and OS version, as this one is probably not host related.

For the Bank Create Name however its not a bug but more a feature affair, in the sense that if you create a bank with a wrong name, as bank creation overall process is forced once you have initiated it, you can erase the bank just after you have created it ( Kind of turnaround admittedly, but people ralely create banks so ... )

A Cancel button might be a good idea tough, actally you create a "string" in a pop up.

Anyway thanks for the report, this one should not be too hard to fix, and is added to the list of the next version.

Also I'll have a serious talk with this Mr Ford, Kelvin mouahahaha .......

Haven't looked yet to see if it's still there.
Latest problem I'm having is editing pre-sets. Only some edits are possible, other virtual knobs like filter frequency and oscillator waveform are frozen.

You have to unlock the layers. Either you check on page 20/21 of the manual ("Synthix Multi layering") or here:

Hi,

to unlock you got first click on "MORE" besides the Xils logo.
Then you could right click on the layer which you want to edit which should be marked red then.
If you want to select all layers (which is necessary if all 16 voices should have the same settings) you could first select the first layer, hold SHIFT and then click on layer 8. You could also click on the space directly below the layer selection. Each of the layers is bound to a certain voice like e.g. voice 1 + 9 for layer 1, 2 + 10 for layer 2 etc.

BTW here is an example how to do a patch with 4 different layers:

- click on "MORE" besides the Xils logo and the layer selection appears
- right click on the layer you want to edit and do your settings (selected layers are marked with a red frame)
- do this for the layers 1-4
- copy the layers 1-4 to the layers 5-8 with the "Copy" and "paste" buttons below the layer selection
- choose "4 voices Unison"
- activate all 16 voices (they should show a red dot, green dots show which voices are played currently
- set the key mode to "Poly Circular" or "Poly reset"

With this setup the patch will have 4 notes polyphony.

Synthix could be a complex synth with lots of features so IMO it is highly recommended to read the manual for it. The manual is downloadable here:

Yes due to the multilayer architecture some instruments are in Simple Panel Mode ( ie when you edit you edit all layers simultaneously) while to edit some more complex instruments ( ie those whose layers have different individual panel settings ) you have to 1/ Eventually click on "more" to make layers visible 2/ Then select wich layer(s) you want to edit ( use Right click to make one layer editable or combinations of right click & Shift or Ctrl to select multiple layers )

Editable (or unlocked) layers have a red rectangle around their number button.

Also Whitten for your CPU overload problem can you please give us some details : Logic Express Last version and Imac. The Synthix is reported to work OK by many Logic users but maybe not the Express version. Also we would appreciate some details about the Imac : OS version, Ram, etc.

I need a few days to check all these (most of the reported crashes has been fixed, but I need to be sure I didn't leave anything)

Hi every body,

Some news and comments to share :

I was polishing the GUI, adding an alert pop-up (when a parameter modified on a locked layer) and fixing some minor bugs. This explaining why I wasn't to much present here (protools gave me some headaches too )

@aMUSEd : The problem you got with the preset looks to be part of windows 7. It never happens on mac or XP. I will work on this side today.

I will also check the CPU picks some of you got on this OS (I'm thinking to dalor who kindly contacted me directly).

@Whitten : on my macbook pro (OSX 10.6) I haven't than CPU problems you described. Maybe it is related to the latency. I will test it deeper.

The group-buy steps wasn't clear :

We are near to reach the last step, 250, to keep the actual price : Only 30 subscribers and you will get the synthix with the 50% (55% for Xils-lab customers) discount you already paid.

If we are reaching the 300 subscribers ( more than 2 weeks to go there, so you can expect it

), "gifts" are plan and you shouldn't be disappointed !

About x64 : no news for the moment. The priority is to finish the actual version but this will be done just after (as I said, VST is almost finished, only Audio Unit will need some more work).
