I believe there is top competitor such Gforce, Softube, xils-lab, UAD.
But what make Diva special is to allow you to make you own analog.
I wish to have Prophet and Oberheim stuff and other thing from big poly like Andromeda, Matrix.

Post

You can do that in the usual modular environments, but that isn‘t as simple as Diva…

I love Diva, but if you want to make you own synths VCV Rack, and/or Voltage Modular far exceeds the abilities of Diva

I don't think anyone believes Diva and VCV are really competing on the same territory. Diva is somewhat modular, from a module perspective, which is great, but still very easy to use due to how un-modular like it is versus VCV/Bazille where you'd be patching in cables and whatnot. Diva is a joy to use in that regard.

There is some stuff I'd love to see at some point in the future like:

1. Addressing those MIDI Learn annoyances I posted about a few days ago
2. Snappier envelope scaling (I feel like the envelope ranges are super long and not scaled for a very wide spot around faster times - might be in my mind)
3. Hive-style Mod Matrix
4. I'd always take new/improved modules

...but Diva's just terrific. It's still pretty much the standard I hold all other VA's too (like I rate RePro a little more highly Diva, I still rate GForce stuff a little below it, etc.). It's literally my comparison point for everything that's come out since.

Not that I don't like a thread about Diva, but this this forum could do with auto locking threads that don't update for e.g. 3 months. This thread is from 2012.

It's a great testament to Diva though that it is still in the top tier of soft synths. Sounds great for a big range of sounds.

I have a natural tendency towards more bitey sounds and Diva is sometimes pretty smooth, but when it works it's great.

Is be all for some more modern components added for a bit more bite (oscs, filters and envs), which perhaps goes against it's vintage ethos.

But yes remarkably ahead of it's time and still holding up as the standard things need to aim for. :tu:

I'm not sure what that would accomplish ? Start a new Diva thread everytime someone wants to talk about it after 3 inactive months ? The plugin might be "old" but i'm sure new customers buy Diva every week. People buy and use older plugins all the time and it's only natural they want to discuss them.

Well, no. It was about people who didn't like it in 2012. And yeah, I'd rather have a fresh thread that's up to date, instead of 95% 12 years old.

Post

Looks like we have both now, while only taking one spot in the topic list

I would like to have some type of "relevance" or "still used" metric for soft synths, Diva for sure is now in the top3 along Sylenth1 and classic massive, but it seems to me that since it is the only one backed by a developer committed to its longevity and improvement it will surpass them eventually, massive probably has a couple of updates left before NI kills it.

If you know that 95% of this thread is 12 years old just ignore it. Set your KVR settings so newest posts display first then it's even easier to ignore older stuff

Diva is NOT top3 for sound. Diva is a classic and deservedly so.

Several days ago I wasn't liking Diva for 10 minutes after hitting my head against a cupboard.
That moment I liked none of u-he products.
Though the same was for Synapse, TAL, guitars, food and other great things. Only cats withstood the impact
Weapons of choice (subject to change):
Godin Redline, Kuassa, Fuse Audio, Audiority, Roland A-500pro, Dune, Dagger, TAL, Reaper for Rock & Synthwave pleasures; Viper and FL Studio for guilty EDM pleasures
