Indeed, melda mxxx is fantastic for all those things...
btw i'm wondering why you didn't participate in the preset action half a year ago.
My impression was that this would be the perfect plug in for you... ;-)

I do own quite a few individual Meldas but I would just get lost in that thing and burn weeks of time, so atm it's just self protectionism :)

I find I'm mostly using ST as a complex effect chain, utilizing feedback as part of the process. I haven't used The individual plugins on their own at all.
It is easier to use this feature built in, but at least in Live, it also extremely easy to setup feedback into the chain. They acknowledge as much on their site.

@rustman, It's taken me a long time to warm up to purchasing these plugins, so of course a killer offer helped. Where I find that these plugins excel is in usability with timed effects. They make it very easy to dial in settings quickly. Similar sounds on other plugins can take a bit of fiddling to get just right. I do love the saturation effects, but to be honest there are so many similar options out there that I really just consider them a bonus to the bundle.

As for the size... I couldn't agree more. Developers are very slow to adapt to this.

Agree on the LFOs I use Abletons MAX4live LFO and envelops to automate any dial in Soundtoys but it would be far easier if they were in Soundtoys Rack. The rack could do with in and out meters too.

The biggest thing for me about the rack is its one click to open all the Soundtoys plugins and they are all neatly stacked.

I used to have the SoundToys bundle, but sold it due to the iLok. This was before the more recent plugins were released. I still really am not a fan of Pace (or machine based auth), but since there's no iLok needed now and SoundToys is running the "pay what you want" special, I just finally got to try Little Radiator. I'm extremely impressed, definitely my favorite preamp model. :tu:

I agree, Radiator is an extremely usable preamp, rich in texture and sensitivity.
Have you checked how the Little Radiator compares to the normal one in terms of cpu use ?

Post

picked up little Radiator.
I think it's really great on bass and drums.
What's bothering is the lack of a gain stage.
However, i made some comparisons with adjusted levels and i really like what it does.

Good thing about Little Radiator is its bigger version is a completely different emulation of some other hardware. So the bigger one is not a replacement both have a use.

i cannot download the installers for v5, any problems at soundtoys?

do the "Little" versions not require the "soft-iLok" machine authorization?

Post

I assume djanthonyw meant that no iLok dongle is needed. You still need iLok, but with ST v5 you can use computer activation if you want, so your computer becomes the dongle.

Post

yes, reading it again, that's what it looks like.

i only asked because i jumped on the V5 deal myself, and never used the "soft-iLok" before this. after spending some time with the bundle, i almost feel like i'd be fine with just the "Little" versions.

thanks!

Picked this up myself last month. Considering I had purchased a few ahead of time and the bundle upgrade was $50, it seemed like a no-brainer, but man, between panman, crystalizer, echoboy, filter freak, and micro shift, these are well worth the price.

All soundtoys plugs require ilok manager software installed. It's upto you if you want the licences stored on your comuter or get an ilok 2 stick to store them on.

I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere in these 30 pages, but I just purchased the upgrade to the Soundtoys 5 bundle and I was wondering if i need to uninstall my version 4 plugs before installing 5.
