Don’t worry about the previous VC d-bags who made a mess of things. We’re already out shopping for new VC d-bags to fund the next several years of mess-making.

Kontakt and its coders should go into the hands of a business shared by library developers. The rest can go anywhere. Ok, leave Absynth to Mr. Clevinger.

The Titanic took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink so yeah everything is "normal" until your feet start getting wet.
But seriously none of us know what's going to happen. Not even the self appointed "experts". Its not unreasonable to take a doom and gloom approach especially considering the dumpster fire of a world we live in right now and it's equally reasonable to take a blue skies and butterflies approach that everything will be fine.
At this point in time all we can do as end users is to have a contingency plan for any foreseeable outcome. Make sure we have backups of any important plugins or data that might be affected and keep informed about this story as it unfolds over time so we can be prepared to react accordingly.
There is no harm in speculating one way or the other here as long as we realize that it will have no bearing whatsoever on the eventual outcome.
Pray for the best, prepare for the worst. That's my advice for everything going on in the world right now......

Apples buying AI music startups I don’t see them buying NI.
I kept trying to think of someone that would and couldn’t really come up with any names.

No it's not, because the already weak and declining sales for NI products have totally collapsed now. Who is going to pay hundreds of dollars for Komplete now? Either as a new product or an upgrade? Same for the new Absynth and Kontact
Whatever revenue from product sales that has come in the last few months or years is now significantly less probably by 90% or more, and that is not going to change. Sales for third party libraries that rely on NI products are also significantly impacted
While NI is not dead yet, the very public Insolvency proceedings they find themselves in have left them mortally wounded and they are bleeding out
So yes we can all use the NI products we have now and they will work just fine for now, but the ability to use them in the future is in serious doubt and that is anything but business as usual
The cure for NI's woes is more sales generating more revenue. Quite simply they need cash and need it now. That cash however isn't coming
Absent of cash inflows, they can further slice and dice the company either by discontinuing and abandoning even more old products to save money, which will hurt sales more, or by selling things off to other entities.
Or perhaps some other private equity firm will come in and buy them, but that still would not solve the issue of who would buy NI products at significant levels to keep the company afloat

Kind of silly to put bold arguments against good old Dirk while still using Microsoft, Apple & Google. If he manages to rescue some of the pile of shards, that should certainly be better than your beloved c/r server being shut off forever.

I think people need to relax a little and just enjoy the ride....
We're not privy to what is going on with the financial arrangements inside NI,so this speculation only increases anxiety levels and that's not good for our health...
Many corporations go through restructuring and takeovers and this is really no different....
I do think that NI has become too top heavy over the years,so throwing a few of those fat dicks overboard will lighten the ship a little and keep the sharks happy too...
So it's a win-win situation....
What we can do,is to focus on making music using the tools we have available to us and be grateful for the air that we breathe...
But even when we are making music,it is wise to have a few different sticks that we can beat the drum with, just in case one gets broken along the way

OK, So ... What is the main reason for NI's cash-flow issue ?
Missmanagement ? Making wrong decisions ? lack of solid products/development ? Piracy ? Competition , etc ... ?
Just curious what is the main cause/s of their financial problems.

Market saturation doesn't help either. We all have so much already...people who used to upgrade every year now maybe every 2-3 years...its just a gradual decline of the market after a peak.Muziksculp wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:33 pm OK, So ... What is the main reason for NI's cash-flow issue ?
