a sad day indeed

It was only a few weeks ago that I watched the Moog documentary and couldn't stop thinking about how much of an innovator Dr Moog was. He brought electronic music to the masses and without him I suspect many of us would not be on this forum. So it was with sadness that I heard of his passing.

it was a great documentary. it showed you how there was a real person underneath all the hype about the instrument he created. from what i learned in the film, it seemed like the first people that had a need for this instrument were new york advertising composers who needed fresh sounds to sell products. and then gradually it found it's way into pop music.

the funniest anecdote in the film is rick wakeman talking about how he aquired his first moog. the person who was selling it described it as defective so he got it at a really cheap price. when wakeman played it he called the seller up and said he didnt think anything was wrong with it... the seller responds that it only plays one note at a time
