I dont think I will buy any VST's over the next year. I'll probably buy plenty of hardware gear, but I think I have all the software I need (and much of it is freeware!).

I may buy a Poco with Virus plug, if that counts. I still love the Virus, but I hate midi so I'll probably sell my B and get the Poco version.

Hi tee boy...just curious about the hating midi thing...care to elaborate? :)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I've not felt lately like there's anything I need to go out of my way for. Most stuff I've reserved brainspace for either doesn't exist yet or is in such an early stage that it might as well not. But stuff I'm watching for:

Gleetchlab for Windows (if it does come this way)
Musolomo for Windows (a pipedream, not sure if it ever will come to PCs)
The stuff Exponent are working on (Gamma series of effects and something once referred to as Effectscape)
Drum9 and Zebra 2

That's all I can think of. I likely won't buy them all, but they are the main things I've made mental notes to watch for. But there's always something that'll come along to surprise you.

Strangely, for me any way, I've been considering getting some hardware. Starting to look into getting a tabletop mixer (I do everything via PC now), a good microphone (I have several less than good microphones now) and a modular synth. Well, less interested in a synth than a modular audio processor/noisemaker. But hardware costs so much, it'll likely take me a while.

[edit] Oh and that new sampler thing from Devine Machine. I don't know if I'll need it, or if it does anything useful to my limited needs, but it does look really cool.

Zip...Zero...Zilch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until I master what I have I refuse to buy anything else.I'm even passing up a lot of free stuff unless it's an update of something I actually use often. No more bloated plug-in folders full of stuff I don't use for me.

Just read about Glitch  Besides donations to Antti and Karma, that's it for me. I'll save the money to buy monitors.

GEQ7, that would be it, I suppose. Everything else I'm looking into spending money on are upgrading Sonar and finally getting some monitors. Hmmm, maybe some compact controllers- get my hands on some of the Doepfer stuff before it's gone.

i dont have much planned for purchase. what i'd really like is a faster computer.

i've currently got a deal pending on minimonsta from a fellow kvr member, and i also just got silverspike R2 and vintage warmer from folks here.

in the future, i may get komplexor (or whatever it ends up being called) if it rocks. if i ever start using reaktor, i'll get the upgrade to 5...but i havent really touched reaktor yet.

the current soundsonline group buy for percussive adventures has me tempted, but considering i got stormdrum in their last group buy, and i've got a couple of other sources for percussion loops, im finding it a bit hard to justify spending the money on PA2, even if its currently 1/2 price. i'll have to listen to the demos again.

if soundsonline does a group buy for altered states, i'll probably jump on it. possibly the same for RA, if i have the cash at the time. of course, my harddrive is already getting pushed to its limits so i really should get a second drive before buying any more sample libraries.

i guess if something comes out that really wows me, or a great deal on something usefull or inspirational comes up, then mabey i'll buy. otherwise, no big plans.

what i really ought to be doing is writing more music.

Ofcourse Hink my good fellow.

When I was at uni I had something go tits up with my system (and no money to fix it!). Basically, my system wilted when required to send midi out. I mean WILTED - I stuttered and spluttered like I had 250 audio tracks running. And that was for a simple mono line with no controllers!

Suffice to say I got a little pissed off. Rather than sequence with the midi editor, I started playing in notes and then editing them into place / length. Very time consuming but it worked!

Btw, I should probably point out that this was before I discovered quality freeware VST's. I was working will a couple of hardware modules.

Anyway, the problem was solved when my mobo blow and I got a new one. But even to this day the slight inaccuracies in midi timing drives me around the twist. My system now handles midi out very well, but I just can feel comfortable running midi tracks. Everything gets recorded as audio.

Ironically I recently found out that good ole BT had the exact same thing happen to him. He has developed really sophisticated methods of editing audio so that it sets sample accurate.

But to cut a long story short (or shorter I should say!), I hate midi because the timing is shite. Its glitchy and sync is crap, and... I hate midi, lol.

Oh, forgot to mention: a good amp sim, whenever it appears - so I can retire my Flextone II for recording duties.
So that and Drum 9 :)

I'd also like to buy a bass guitar :)

if someone comes out with a good book or instructional dvd for reaktor 5, i'll get that...
it's gonna take enoughtime getting that down, still haven't downloaded any freeware even...i'm waiting for the powers that be to sort out the Sonic Maximizer VST prob with T2 before i pick up the bundle offer through Musician's Friend...and i think i'm FINALLY going to start piano lessons (i'm 42 friggen years old!

oh yeah, i still need more patch cables/snakes to "finish" my studio...and i have some repairs and mods i want to get done on hardware synths, looking for a tech in the chicago area, i'm sure that's gonna be some $$$$...

and maybe, just maybe, i'll put the strings on my guitars i bought some 2-3 years ago...
