Bands you didn't know existed until after they didnt

I nearly pissed myself when I went through the entire list- I think that this pic deserves a 2nd look too:

The reviewer really doesn't bother with research, does he? This isn't a "new" Dimmu picture by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, that might be one of their very first promo pics. With the exception of Shagrath and Silenoz everyone in that picture has left the band.

Not to mention the fact that he seemed completely unaware of how much overlap there was in his list. He made fun of Old Man's Child, apparently forgetting that he had already made fun of Galder as a member of Dimmu Borgir, and then as a seperate mention all on his own. He also got Nick Barker 3 times between Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth.

I'm under the impression that he didn't know that Galder was in Old Man's Child despite the fact that OMC is pretty much Galder's solo project.

I can have a good laugh at someone making fun of the extreme cheesiness of black metal (Because, let's be honest, it may be one of the cheesiest genres ever created) so long as they are a fellow enthusiast. However, when it comes to guys like this, who clearly knows nothing about the bands that he's making fun of, he just comes off as an arrogant prick.

The pictures are funny, but the homophobic arse couldn't come up with any jokes, he just kept saying, "That's gay", and "Wow, what a bunch of fags". I've seen funnier and more mature jokes scrawled on the walls of restrooms.

I'm the first to admit that some of it is an aquired taste, but there is some brilliant stuff out there. The new Opeth record is just stunning. I dare say that this is one of the best albums I've ever heard. The pieces are beautiful and hideous, soothing and jangling, serene and violent. The melodies are quite haunting, actually.

The reviewer was perhaps a bit theatrical and over-the-top (now, what genre of music does that remind me of??)....but at least he's got a sense of humour, which is more than I can say about any of the guys in the Top 20 pictures!! I had such a great laugh at those! I'm not having a go at the music (a lot of it is very powerful and passionate), but man, these guys really need to lighten up and not take life, death, or themselves so seriously!

...and I just can't help laughing at the bald headed guy on the left every time I look at that photo Who ever though black metal could put a smile on someone's face? Good on em'!!

Actually, despised as they are, Cradle of Filth (Reciecing 2 mentions on the lists) doesn't seem to take themselves too seriously. Live Bait For The Dead had Dani saying things along the lines of, "I just took a look at our tacky background and thought I was standing in front of a Tibeten monestairy... Sometimes I wish I'd f**k off, too". I think there was another bit of speaking with the audience after they came back from intermission, "Still there, are you? Well I couldn't f**king tell. Then again, I'm good at forgetting things... Remember kids, drink bleach".

I'd say the cheesy visuals can mislead the people into taking themselves too seriously. I'm sure many people would say the same thing about Rob Zombie, but every interview I've ever seen with him makes it pretty clear that he's got a good sense of humor and doesn't consider himself to be above a good teasing.

I didn't say I was going to vouch for the entirety of this miserable lot! Some of 'em are decent enough guys, and some of 'em are just so much filth clogging the filter of the municipal gene pool.

LOTD: You're probably right mate, I'm sure plenty of black metal bands don't take it all that seriously. I guess the black metal 'look' is pretty easy to poke fun at. I admire them for not caring what people think - anyone who is prepared to just be themselves is ok by me.

(I gotta stop looking at the bald guy though - I'm breaking into fits of laughter EVERY time I look at that! )
