I've just received it and have been playing with it today. It's a curious mix of stuff: the strings have good release sample patches that have a mild and pleasant ambience, but the rest of the instruments are mostly dry. Not sure where that decision came from. The solo instruments are nice. . . good stuff for sure, but nothing replaces EWQLSO Gold, which is just awesome. The problem with Gold though is that the release sample technique doesn't always work quite right, i.e. the release sample sometimes doesn't match the volume of the proceeding note, which can sound very ugly. This is most noticable in gentle legato sections and in solo instruments, so the solo instruments from other libraries complement gold nicely.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Other users have reported the popping and clicking with GPO inside K2 as well see:

Pretty sure it's a K2 bug (or perhaps a K2 feature tickled by a library specific issue). In either case it means I can't use K2's scripting and convolution effects with GPO. Which is kinda a downer. Not the end of the world. The player works fine and I do have the VSL patches (which I'm using more than GPO). I'd hope they will fix it, someday. But I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, but Gold costs about almost 4 times more. That not a fair comparison at all.

Two points I think are worth bringing up:

The price of GPO has apparently dropped. Received the latest catalog from AMS and they're selling it for $199.95. (Perhaps the price-drop is to compete against the new KH lib).

The only orchestral libs I have are the old Akai Siedlacek samples and Ultimate Strings (giga). Even with the release of Emerald, I find myself still very impressed by GPO and the company and user community supporting it. I have to admit that when I first heard some of the demos, I thought many of the samples sounded synthy and were nothing to write home about.

Then I heard the pieces by the competition winners. Exceptional! (Apparently I'm the only one here who thinks so, or did I miss the discussion here about them? A search pulled up nothing!). Or maybe it was too depressing for most of us to acknowledge that the Grand Prize winner was an 18-year-old!

I guess my point is, that despite the fact that the newer libraries come with a lot more sounds, GPO remains an impressive package, obviously capable of great sounding work, and now that the price has dropped, is even more enticing (I disagree with the other poster who said that there's no reason to get it, just because the KH lib has 3 times the sounds or articulations. Size of the library isn't everything; for example, one disadvantage of Emerald is that it's currently a Giga library only, while GPO comes with its own player). I'm not dismissing Emerald - in fact, I'm trying to decide whether to buy Emerald or GPO. So far, GPO's impressive demos and support system have me leaning heavily that way.
