Uh, and I thought I could use the GR controller for something else in addition - you know, I wouldn't actually switch GR sounds but rather have multiple instances loaded and use a MIDI command to mute/unmute mixer channels (for a variety of reasons this is my prefered method when working live, won't go into the details for now).
Plus, it'd be cool to control other FX in addition.
Let's just hope they'll be adding plain MIDI CC output asap. Otherwise GR will be of close to no interest for me.

Good news here. This morning I booted up the computer and double clicked again on the GR2 icon. A box opened with the statement " you've got 30 days left to evaluate." I clicked OK and GR2 console opened. It seems either you have to rebooth the computer after installation or wait for the inatallation date to roll by. Anyhow, I plugged my guitar into the Line6 GuitarPort hardware interface and configured GR2 audio I/O to use GuitarPort's ASIO drivers. It worked perfectly.
I've got to say that Native Instrments have set a new standard in guitar amp modelling. I was back and forth comparing the Tweedman and Plexi to the GuitarPort models of these amps with the same modeled mics and positioning. With the High Res button engaged on GR2, they sounded much, much better than the GuitarPort models. GR2 sounded clean and well defined. Very nice, though $499.99USD is out of reach for me at this time. I wonder if they would be selling just the software alone.

A re-install and rebooting seemed to do the trick for me, too. After trying further, I really like the quaddelay and the spring reverb and the mod effects, but the distortion effects aren't very distinctive from one another. The Loop Machine and Tapedecks are cool, but I couldn't seem to put any effects after the Loop Machine. I'm not in love with any of the amps or cabs really. The cabs especially seem to muddy things up a lot right out of the gate. Strange that the stuff most targetted at guitarists strike me as the weakest part of the software.
I kind of hope if they consider a cut-down version in the future and release an Effects Rig, and just keep the amps/cabs and the controller for the guitar suite.

Works here too.
I think all you need is a reboot.

I cant try out the GR demo. I always do Install shield setup captures of every demo I try to better clean them out when they expire. Apparently GR looks for that and times out immediately.

Presumably that's because it is time-limited. Otherwise you could re-install every 30 days perpetually.Stupid American Pig wrote:I cant try out the GR demo.
