which one should I buy? Systrus or Rhino? I am looking for crazy sounds... deep and heavy sounds... for tech house and minimal... been reading alot about both...

Post

Thanks for the FS1R info, Radek. Looked at them a couple of times on eBay. Just wish I could fool around with one before spending the cash.

Linzatti, try both demos. I prefere sytrus (and it's cheaper at 59$ right now) for it's extremely high sound quality (that LP3 filter set to 1-pole is screaming-tastic!).

$59 for this!? I´ve been trying the demo and I have to say, getting systrus for this price is a steal.

Can't find a good reason not to buy - damn!! :)

Daven, your presets kick some serious ass! They are quite simply, stunning. Best of the bunch and show very nicely that only imagination is the limit of sytrus....
Tomorrow will be S-day :)
In preparation I surfed the FL-sites (forum etc.). Now I wonder how I can get presets in a targeted way. For instance, do I really have to search the preset forum for "Daven" and have to check every single thread for preset attachments?

hmmm....

thanks & cheers,

No, I meant the ones that come included with Sytrus! Daven Hughes has created several of them and he is planning to release a few more soon so stay tuned! :)

Hi bmanic,

thanks for reply.

I'm now extending my preparation time - with the help of some bottles of good 'Pils' - and go (it's more a traversal..) through the preset threads (just downloded some choir patches..). :D

Picked it up and it's def worth every penny.

However, I'm having some weird issues... when I opened a new song in Sonar3P, and I record a track with Sytrus, and play it back, everything is as expected. But then for some reason, it won't allow me to play anything unless I hit play and it's actually scrolling through measures. Soon as I hit stop, it won't play when I strike the keys. Very weird huh? I've checked everything, even had other VST's opened which played fine when I switched to those tracks and tested the keys. Wonder if it's a DXi conflict issue? I didn't install the VST option, but maybe I will just to see if it fixes the prob ... kind of frustrating .. but the sounds are quite nice :)

Highly recommended!

But you have Tera2 (the undisputed master-blaster) why would you want/need anything else?

Sytrus can be more 'crisp' in it's sound than Tera (which can get overly-organic) but still every sound you want done in Sytrus could be done in Tera.

People are selling sound banks for $29 a bank, usually 128 patches. I think Sytrus has almost 300 patches. Buy two sound banks and get the synth for free. I think that makes it a good deal even if someone has VirSyn Tera 2.

I have Tera 2, and I have made my feelings known about the lack of portamento in Sytrus, but I still bought Sytrus.

I may fuss, whine and complain but bottom line is it sounds good and has a good selection of patches.

You mean selling prests for Tera?
But Tera has 1400+ patches standard. There can hardly be a sound not there.

Sytrus does sound good, can get into some really nice Vangelis tones.
