Its pretty easy to program out the beats you want using something like the FL Slicer. Cut and paste works wonders. And you have per note volume, filter, pitch, pan, etc.

Some of you in this thread seem to rely on these tools too much imo.

Anyone around here using Devine Machine's Lucifer? I've been wanting to get that for a while. I know it's not totally intended for loops but it can mangle just about anything.

honestly i'm curious about what makes you think that? for me LS is the tool i wanted to have for years as it brings some new ideas to the genre of slicing tools and it's very stable.
for me it's cool that i can arrange beats in the gui itself and don't need to (but still could) trigger everything with single notes. and i can do what all those other tools like suppatrigger, livecut and glitch can, but with total control.. it is a little more work though, but do you really think having only randomized sounds make good tracks?

don't get me wrong, i really like the other tools for live usage, but being in the studio i prefer to know what i'm doing.

I gotta admit, this is pretty crazy, and impressive as hell from a tech POV. Then I asked myself, "Yeah, but what would you do with it?"

Dusted wrote a good review of Lucifer for Traxmusic. I really liked the demo of it, but since version 2 is on its way i will probably wait for that to come out(are the upgrades free?). The fun part about Lucifer is it has a lot of interactivity with the keyboard and stuff so it's not overly random like the other ReOrderers

Yes, Lifetime free updates! Lucifer2 is also finalised now featurewise after a couple months of work on it, so you can get the beta.

I did by intent make Lucifer a bit less focused around random, happy accidents are great but you get plenty of those out already! However, I've added an auto-random feature to Lucifer2, where at the end of each cycle it will randomize any graphs you choose. These states are also held per-"graphset key" ('preset' key) so you can have some good control over when random happens (and to what) on your MIDI keyboard!

Here's a list of some of the new Lucifer2 features:

- multiple outputs (4 stereo) routable from graphs/MIDIcc/vstparam.  
-Input Lock (lowest-left item) stops audio input from writing over the cycle 
(hence the lock)
-mixdown switch allows you to capture input or performances (previous pass, next pass, current pass)
-load and save audio loops (load up to 4)
-audio loop paths save in host/preset
-can run as VSTi 
-drag and drop audio loops to the graph window  (same as load button, just often faster for the user)
-alt-click on graphs to reset segments
-shift-click on graphs to draw flat
-right-click on Incarn graph to extend diagonal segments
-All graphs have the option to send MIDI CC or even a monophonic note 
stream.
-new waveform displays
-revisited "OFFSET" keys (C6-D#7, non-incarn) to displace entire playbuffer 
by buffer-16ths
-7 menu-assignable  notes instead of 2 (c2-b2)
-support for 48 and 96k *** (currently loaded WAV's must be the same 
samplerate as your host for correct playback)
-Vol_XF now smoothes a touch
-copy first graphset to all graphsets - (alt-copy, click paste)
-copy current graphset to another location - (shift-copy, click new 
graphset, click paste)
-more CPU reductions
-drawing optimisations
-added a phaser effect
-added "SP LOFI" effect
-Hyper FX sonic tweaks
-new scratching algo
-new incarn default presets
-many bugfixes
