about the XT2 sampler improvments

Overall improvements, workflow is the keyword. Its more integrated, and you can share/drag/copy samples between samplers and/or sequencers...

Dont know about linking single wav files on disk yet, but lining soundbanks yes.

I just had an idea, if I can map a drum slot to "multiple" midi notes. Then we could trigger chords as well

Each drum slot can be triggered by midi key.

Not sure how usefull it is, but it could be cool...

More about the XT2 drum track:

When I think about it, isn't the drum track kind of a horizontal tracker editor? you have lots of params per step like coarse, fine, filter, automation etc...and you can step record/edit with arrow keys in-track.

but what timing resolution can the drum track work at

Tming is sample accurate, you can work an any grid/snap resolution.

Support for multiple notes per "step" would be cool though, but how...(thinking)

one thing xt2 doesn't do is mixing params in the same row though. You have one row per param.

I can support a lot of the same params in the xt2's drum track, but the editor will be different. It's like a folded piano roll with multiple controller/param lanes per sound.

You can replace samples. the drum track is a track with built in sampler

and also a midi out isn't it, choice for each drum lane between sampler or a midi out or a vsti or the famous hardware i/o module, to have a kick made by an hardware synth, hihats made by drumatics, and dub snare from an integrated sampler?

I've just been messing about with the volume/pan in the main mixer using my sustain pedal...

It is totally glitch free!


However when I use the mixer comp and do the same there are glitches...

Obviously the same glitch-free technology (lol) should be implemented also within the mixer comp!

Live mode in xt2 is different. Its per project and not per sequencer comp. What it does is showing each seq comp as a row. Then you have (play group or scene) columns that you can name as "intro" "verse" "ref" etc. In each cell in the colums you can select what preset to play from each seq comp. Its kind of like the matrix in Project5 but each cell can be anything from a single bd.wav to multiple midi and audio tracks.

The cool thing is that you can start with the matrix and drop stuff into it without knowing that xt2 is createing seq comps automatically in the background...

triggering can be recorded into a pattern view (with presets - for different mixes), or if you like, you can work only in the pattern view using xt as a plane pattern sequencer.

yes, note that cc and pitchwheel can also be standard mode or envelope mode. CC10 in screenshot is standard mode, CC74 is envelope mode. Pitch wheel is in envelope mode.

You can also automate in the same clip mixer channel settings, send levels, fx insert params and of course all VST params...in xt2 you dont need to use separate envelope track unless you want to automate mulitple destinations with the same curve.

automation of fx busses (and group busses) are also clip based.

and you can step edit automation with arrow keys.

(about the env comp) as the xt2 sequencer will no longer load plugins and you route any track to anything in the project, the (new) seq comp will replace the env comp, midi comp and audio comp. What you can do is add a seq, add a sinus envelope, then save it as "sinus envelope".

Then later on you can drag the "sinus envelope" from the file browser into the main window and its ready to go.

The mixer comp is kept, there is a new group comp, and in addition there are new "busses" in xt2. A bus is used for send effects and group mixing.

Speaking of the main window, will ins/outs now be named (e.g. automatically by track, or specified by the user)? It'd make routing much easier if they were. Having the names pop up in the main window upon mouseover would be even better.

I also notice that you can have different colours for the piano roll keys. (no more matching the grid colours to the piano keys, hooray!)

+1 - for time-stretching and pitch-shifting and for paying more! For people working with audio in a sometimes extensive way it's a must!

xt2 doesnt use the win folder anymore, energyXT.ini has to be in the same folder as xt2.
