Maybe I wiil have to ask Grymmjack to see if he could do a quick GUI for the new synth, and let it go now :D Grymmjack what do ya think, should I send the files :)

Fretted Synth
Yeah man send the files :) I can get started on a UI for it.

I thought of a great effect for FreeAmpSE to include: the Electro Harmonix MicroSynth. I'm sure your version would absolutely nail the original and be a lot more versatile at the same time. The MicroSynth would also kill several birds with one stone because it could have presets for octaver/octave fuzz, swell effects (Slow Gear), and more!

The MicroSynth would also be a killer standalone vst in your audio triggered synth lineup.

Really excited to see how all this works out! :hyper:

(Since discovering the Fretted Synth stuff only last week, I've been playing around the various Helian series amp-sims and am loving the results  )

First of: Thanks for your efforts, FrettedSynth.

But then: Isn't it about time someone develops a dedicated audio interface for GKII (or any other hex pickup) users?
I haven't seen a breakout box (offering 6 dedicated outputs, one for each string) for that thing at all, but I'd surely like to.
That's actually what the VG8/88 thingies are doing, I think. They're just processing each string separately.

Quite some years back there's been a german company developing a few dedicated hex pickup effects, such as a hex-distortion (or whatever it was called). Tried it once and it's been blowing me away. Independent, polyphonic distortion - so finally it worked on each and every chord (something normal distortion doesn't deliver), because there's been no funny harmonics interaction between the strings.
Sure, running 6 independent processors for each string might indeed bring even the most modern PCs to a halt pretty soon, but then, I'd still like to see something like that.
VG8 in a computer, yay!

the only thing i could wish for is a Mac port...

but sad to say this seems to be synthedit built....

stand alone would be awesome!

and i sort of like the idea of more clean sounds myself... a bass model would be cool too!

what about two pedals one for reverb and one for delay, its kind of hard to set those up when they are in the same GUI.

any way i like the sound of free amp and i want to see the next wave of it hit!

the only thing i would REALLY like is a Mac port of this awesome effect.

Sascha, I have found this unit: http://www.rmcpickup.com/fanoutbox.html which is a start, then you would still need an audio interface with 6 audio ins. It seems like I've heard of other units too, but I can't find them in a search right now. I think you see this like I do - there is no end to the possibilities of the guitar processed as 6 individual audio streams.

guitarzan - Cool looking converter, not a bad price either. Wonder how it is for crosstalk and tracking?
Electro Harmonix MicroSynth, Ha! never knew this was out there! been around a while it seems  Wonder if it triggers an oscillator or uses the guitar tone as its source. I thought to do a version that had the gate, filters, modulation and amp using the guitar as a source? Have to try that.

Sascha Franck - Thanks for the interest, A VG8 is a long-long way off :) but I do believe I'm getting closer to a dynamic tracking guitar synth, Hopefully you will enjoy the new synth, it tracks pretty well?
The pitch tracking is still a bit rough, it uses a port by IK from sync modular ensemble, cant remember who did that one? but anyhow David Haupt did the SE module. It reads crossing zero to get the pitch, which seems to crap out around the 4th or 5th fret. It cant handle all the harmonics that come off a guitar string of that length, higher up the fretboard it does quite well.

guitar junkie - Sorry no Mac version but on the upside I do really want to learn some about coding

Thanks all sorry this kind of turned into a synth thread :)

Any requests for the new version would be cool to hear about?

Fretted Synth
Phaser, flanger and ability to load impulses a la Voxengo's ampsim - and have you thought of adding a donate button to your website?

This has already been done! Some guy created
a freeware VST version of the EH Microsynth
that was pretty spot on both in terms of
the GUI and the sound. The website has
dissappeared but I have the .dll. I'd
gladly e-mail anyone a copy. Maybe
Fretted Synth could have a look under
hood and replicate it in Freeamp.

Now if someone would just make a Roland
Jet Phaser!

I've had one of those MicroSynths for over twenty years (my original was stolen, but I've had one of the re-issues since then). They aren't really a synth - no oscillator, just octave down, octave up, and straight guitar with optional square-wave style fuzz and a filter, really. I think it would be a great effect for somebody to model, and it would fit right into your lineup!

EDIT: Hey CapnLockheed, didn't see your post when I was writing this. Very interested!! :D

Wow, that fanoutbox looks just great!
I even have an EMI 6|2 - too bad it's USB 1 only and the drivers are less than stellar as well (so, no low latency). Should try with ASIO4All to see whether I can get the latency down to a useable value.
Seriously, that'd be an incredible setup. Would pretty much require something else but the taped on GKII (on a freaking old Ibanez Sabre) though.
And then, another 400 bucks for that box, uh...
Could be a good plan for the next year to get that shit together. I'm sure the possibillities are indeed endless. Poly-distortion = wicked sounds! Layer that with some VSTi pads and keyboarders, here I come!

Well then gimme an e-mail addie and
I'll send it your way! :D

BTW....I've got a track with me old

I've completed the phase distortion skin, and a logo for FrettedSynth plugs. This is the kind of stuff you can all expect for FreeAMP 1.5 skin.

Let me know what you think, and a cookie to the first person to notice something odd...

Oh yeah, I sorta based it on the colors of my POD 1.0 (since we're guitarists I figured that would be a comfortable color scheme for us all -- what guitarist hasn't ever used/touched/fondled a POD?) :D I know not all of them... *sigh*
