and if so why not modulate it
Would you use this _real_ Leslie? AUDIO DEMO

Careful now! If you spin the cabinet in the opposit direction of the speaker it will cause a tear in the time/space continuum...I bet it would sound really cool, though.michu wrote:we are talkin about more than 4 taps here, Quinto has morphing convolution technology, the question is how many impulses it would take for convincing result...
another interesting trick that could be possible would be rotating cabinet besides rotating speaker

I might use it. But stop putting stuff out man...I can't take it...it's killing me....I'm still trying to figure REAL THING into my nonexistant budget, nevermind figuring out all your other offerings.

It seems like these speaker arrays could also do other cool stuff when they weren't doing the Leslie effect. Like having a straight guitar tone (amp/cab sim - no FX) coming out of the forward facing speaker while the sides had stereo delay/reverb. Maybe the rear facing speaker's audio could run through an impulse of the back of a open back cab for the ultimate realistic combo amp sim experience - OK, that's probably a stretch, but you could do something cool with the rear facing speaker.
Or, maybe a pair of the arrays could do a killer stereo imaging effect like some of the old Polk Audio speakers from the 80's - or Bose type of stereo spread. Stuff like that. Remember, they could be built to any scale from bookshelf size all the way up.
Especially considering Quinto's morphing convolution technology, I think the Leslie effect might just be the beginning for such a speaker array. Then there's everything else he could do with morphing convolution - pretty much everything!

Can you stack the 4 speakers to simulate a wall of marshalls??

Yeah their top of the line back then had a cable that connected between the two...but I have a pair of Polk Audio 7's from then (love them but I have to get a new tweeter which they stock) and it's a passive radiator system (10") which might make sense in this case as well... 2 speakers, 2 rear firing passives. My polks fire forward but Klipsch had speakers that fired to the rear and they claimed if you stacked two you would get the same sound as the top of the line Polks...Or, maybe a pair of the arrays could do a killer stereo imaging effect like some of the old Polk Audio speakers from the 80's

I have a pair of newer RT251 Polks bookshelf speakers right in front of me. Their 80's stuff had that killer SilverDome tweeter though - real easy to burn out (I went through 3-4 myself until I bought a Carver amp). Those SilverDomes had the sweetest top end I've ever heard.Hink wrote:Yeah their top of the line back then had a cable that connected between the two...but I have a pair of Polk Audio 7's from then (love them but I have to get a new tweeter which they stock) and it's a passive radiator system (10") which might make sense in this case as well... 2 speakers, 2 rear firing passives. EDIT: I looked it up and they were actually called Silver Coil Dome tweeters.
You know, I think you could do that regardless of how this Leslie thing turns out. As long as you had 4 audio outs on your interface and ran your guitar through 4 seperate amp sims - well I bet it would sound something like a wall of amps anyway.COOkie wrote:Can you stack the 4 speakers to simulate a wall of marshalls??

I didn't burn mine out, this is embarrassing
....last summer I was playing with a tone generator and I made a tone at like 21k, I decided to pump up the volume on my stereo and run it through there to see if the polks made any noise. To make matters worse, years ago instead of replacing a fuse I jumped it...yeah the tweeter made a noise alright
but now it doesn't...they dont have chromedomes though, but then the guy at the service center said they used two different makes of tweeters then...he said depending on what I had I might have to modify the place for the tweeter...they're 60 bux each, I figure I'll get two...but I keep forgetting to get them...

Hink, the tweeters I was talking about were actually called Silver Coil Dome tweeters - they were clear, not chrome. The Silverdome is a stadium in Pontiac Michigan

a bit of topic, but does any of you guys remember who made that stereo combo that used kind of m/s logic to get stereo, ie it had one speaker in front and 2 smaller out of phase firing to the sides?

this sounds like it would be something to work with for me...
i like to play around with a violin running through all sorts of moduler effects such as this... sure do you think you will have a mac port?

Ok,
it is up and working
Just home-toy version, of course, but it sounds very very promising.
I cannot upload the vst from home. I there anybody interested in helping for testing and developing? Just send your email address and I'll send a vst by email.
