It is really an eye opener to me that EnergyXT is already used as main DAW by a good percentage of users. I was thinking that to use as a plugin until XT2 comes.
Tools are tools, they don't produce anything...

after all these years.. still got no "main-sequencer"
using muzys, cubase-LE, FL, audacity, reaper, luna-beta,
hydrogen advanced drum machine, syntrax...
but that might change,
i have BIG faith in the following projects:
tunafish, luna, reaper, and
LMMS - Linux MultiMedia Studio
sooo.. only time will tell,
which one might become my "main daw"

I bought eXT 2 days ago and am now in the process of purging my systems of everything else except Tracktion. If you want to record and edit performed midi it's aces.ttoz wrote:SonicBreeze wrote:It is really an eye opener to me that EnergyXT is already used as main DAW by a good percentage of users. i just spent an hour with the demo. I don't get the rave. It's so basic!
I can just go... without stopping to edit every note. It's so fast and such a relief to be able to just play music without all the hassle and NO CRASHES! It's inspirational.
If you are a midi step programmer almost anything will do. eXT is the only thing I've found that records performed midi without screwing it up since Cubase for MacOS7. Even the midi edit tools work without screwing it up. The audio recording is very good but it's not that easy to master in the current version. I suspect I'll just use T2 for mastering and remix from now on... or until eXT makes T2 unnecessary too.
If you read posts about eXT from Jorgen Aase he uses "smooth" a lot. It's the exact impression I get from eXT it's smooth and professional. All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you. It's the best $50 bucks I ever spent. I'm a fan.

'so basic'?
wow....
if you say so.
@tomG :

nice that you are on board the eXT train.

my favourite thing is how in Multi mode i can have loop based, pattern based, and linear sequencing all in the same track, in the same window

and the 'groove' rack for every track, where i can load up NicFit's MIDI tools, or eXT vst/i.
Using the eXT plugin inside the groove rack, i can give a crazy-powerful mod-matrix to ANY synth.

actually, i wouldn't know where to end it, if i started trying to list all the things about eXT that are "my favourite"
it's just bloody amazing what is possible now.

I thought Tracktion would've rated higher. eXT is super-popular. Good. I'm going to pick it up to enhance Cubase; it's quite the program! Tracktion too.
It'll be interesting to see if Steinberg can maintain the lead with all this dongle-free innovation gaining support.

It's worse than that. I'm a convert! I just deleted everything but T2!...Z3R0T0N1N wrote:'so basic'?

It is, no doubt, at the very least, amazing. eXT was the missing link for me and it comes with a kick ass sampler all for $50!? Amazing!
I got in on the Wusik/ExSC deal (both for about a $100 I think?) and converted all my akai/emuX/esi/cds/samples/soundfonts..ect. I had to go buy a new USB harddrive to house the now 100Gb sample library. I've got every sound in and out of the known universe a mouse click away.
No more dongels no more fighting the software, no more dedicated sample librarys, no more heavy shit to haul around. It all runs on a 5pc laptop setup now and that includes monitors! Fast machines, low latency, cold beer & hot babes, Man!.. Shit! Is this not great or what?
