Its like chainer on steroids. A tweakers delight if you will. I think its there to easily stack, layer and morph sounds kinda like the combinator in reason, only more comprehensive. However, I get the feeling you need Komplete to get the most joy out of it. 4. a dongle for database software which will categorise your patches - a la Combinator...
NI did an offer where if you had Komplete2 - you bought Kore and got Komplete3 free... thats my excuse

Now you've (possibly) had some time to use the controller, could you tell us what you think of it?
i.e Is the audio interface "crap"?
Is it and easy and logical hard/software unit in use?
Would you have bought it if you'd been able to test it for a few weeks first?
I've got Komplete and wondered about it usefulness, useability, and quality of components and overall design.
Any feedback appreciated!

Hi Deric!
I have to admit to not having much time to use it since it arrived! I was in hospital for a couple of colonoscopys (?spelling?) - and building up to second year as a mature student in Uni doing some summer reading
A couple of first impressions tho -
Set-up is confusing so far for me... I have an external HD that I want to hold all my samples and sample libs/vstis & fx. Basically all non-system stuff. KORE software keeps looking in my C: partition for samples - which is making me think of re-installing Komplete3 on the C: drive.
Audio quality of the interface hardware - again for ME - is terrible. Noisy as HELL even with balanced leads and CONSTANT dropouts even at the highest latency settings. Im using my Toneport UX2 as my output and the results are EXCELLENT! Its a shame as KORE really sorts my Midi interface needs for external gear - the knobs are great and assignment for third party plugs is simple... it could be an all in one solution - just that it isnt for me YET.
The concept of browsing patches and fx - a sound map, is fantastic. I feel though that its not an instant thing. I need to spend time with categories and 3rd party stuff. Build quality of this unit is great!!! Its also a shame that you need the hardware to activate the KORE browser - its a big dongle to carry about with my laptop
As mentioned - I've not setup things exactly to my working methods yet so this may be moot BUT - it takes an AGE to start the software - that may just be me as I need to assign stuff to the correct directories but just be aware of it!
Im going to sit down with the manual this evening and see if I cant make the sample location settings simpler for my set-up but I just bought Komplete Care and I'll hold off moving stuff around until I update to Komplete4...
If you have Komplete and could find a copy of Care06 - IMHO it would be well worth picking up as Komplete4 looks like its all centering around KORE...

Hi Dave,
Make sure that KORE's using the latest versions of your NI plugins (it'll overwrite anything from the Kontakt 2.1.1 update and after, so reinstall the updated plugins). Open the sample stuff in standalone and make sure the library path's correct (ALL NI plugins should be run in standalone first in my experience). With Kontakt, rebuild your database using the custom folder option (you set them under options-search/DB). Now, start KORE and rebuild your database after rescanning your plugins.
The sample paths will be correct
