GCO- a question to Torben and the compressor experts...

This is one of the greatest threads since quite some time, thanks Jens, bmanic, Kingston and Torben for this. Now I just have to figure out what I can learn from that for my own humble effects, gpp-1, a voxengo-compressor, QuantumFX2 and all the nice tbtaudio and eversmeier, Kjaerhus classic compressor and other most valued freebies . Torben, what do you think of some slightly changes in the extisting plugins, and thanks for reading this.

GCO-1 / GPP-1 / MPL-1: Next to the GAIN value, a MIX knob (for e.g. MIX only 5% of the comressed/limited signal with the dry signal), by default its 100% (wet).

GPP-1 / MPL-1 : The GAIN output of -10db (GPP-1) or -5db (MPL-1) is too low, something like -40 would be really helpful.

in the manual is writtten, that the second release is up to several seconds long in some opto-compressors - however GCO-1 only has a maximum value of 100ms for the second release - what am I not understanding here?

The most realistic opto-sound is obtained if you set the main release to 500-2000 ms and the secondary release to 40-60 ms.

Mix knob on GCO-1 would be a good feature and maybe also on GPP-1 but it would be kind of inconventional to have a mix knob on a master limiter like the MPL-1 master limiter (though I know many are using it on tracks).

I do not see the point in changing the output gain regulation on any of them. If you for some unknown reason want the output level to be lower you just turn off auto-gain, but I do not see why; after all setting the output level are what the faders are for.

Normally it would be around 50%, but that is a matter of taste.
