I did not want to say that you have the same level of control with classic chorus, but it sounds great and if it sounds good I do not need so much control, ie I do not miss anything

Discord always has that strange pulsating warble going on in the modulation. That clip just sounds vital and beautiful.
AFAIK Waves Doubler does not introduce any latency so you can use it within FL or whatever. At least it does not report any latency to host(tested in Cubase and FL).

It doesn't have latency on the dry signal, but on the generated voices it does - which is why there's an "Align" button in doubler, to delay the original voice to the generated voices, and in this case, I would imagine it does report latency to the host, otherwise it would shift the whole signal backwards...

I've posted about these before, and I think these plugins are the biggest rip-offs available right now; cheap, buggy, CPU-intensive SynthMaker plugins that anyone could cobble together in a night. It's just a bit of saturation and EQ, easily done (better) with free plugins. The last time I tried one of their butt-ugly plugins, I almost blew my ears off with a squealing sound, before it crashed Cubase. Stay away from this hokum.
Well, I certainly make no claims of having golden ears but I definitely like what this is doing to the vocals I've tried it on. Zero stability problems or other bugs so far though I haven't used it every extensively yet. Can't say I've seen any excessive cpu consumption either.

Yeah, I don't mean to be overly negative; just my impression. If it sounds good on your material, then awesome. I assumed we're looking for something with detailed control.

I swear the CPU was large with Vocal Magic, I can check again.

Thanks for that. Discord 2 is getting good press, I see, and very inexpensive. I think I may well snap it up. Also I'm hearing very good things about their new Reverence plate reverb emulation, including some enticing audio samples....
Yeah I'm pretty happy with Reverence, definitely a cool sound, but it doesn't suit every source and doesn't make for terribly long, clean tails. But for $39...come on!

Can't listen now, but excellent, thanks.

I had to go with the Waves bundle. If Discord is the best alternative, Waves Doubler it's got to be.

Now I'll just brace myself and see what the big fuss is about with Ilok. :-o

Good luck, hope you enjoy your purchase! They are excellent workhorse tools...

It should be OK. The iLok at work has been no problem, it was when they first put it out that it caused problems. I agree nothing is going to give you as instantly rich and rewarding experience as Doubler. Somebody should fill that gap, this is an oft-requested item...

I am interested in Discord 2, but not interested in buying without a better idea. I don't need any exotic presets - just an affordable doubler to compare with my Voxengo Vintage modulator.
+1

I'm definitely in the market for Discord 2, so this would be interesting and helpful.

Okay, here's Watto's Ooh at -300, -500, -700, +300, +500, +700:

And here's an example of Discord2 as a more animated special effect. This is a preset with +700 in the left channel and +500 in the right, and on each interation, I add some delay, modulation and feedback:

couldn't justify the cost? :? for $150 you get Doubler the you get Renaissance Compressor, Super Tap (an awesome delay), Renaissance EQ, Renaissance Vox and Renaissance Axx (another awesome compressor).
