This post is a shameless attempt to:

1) increase my post count

2) Keep Live 6 in the limelight since Cakewalk's Sonar 6 announcement looks pretty nice

But seriously, in all the hoopla surrounding Live 6's new features it just hit me about a feature I have wanted for a long time - the ability to render all tracks at the same time as separate files. Are there any other hosts that can do this or is this a Live first?

Nope...that's why I asked So Acid Pro can do this also? That's great. There are times when I want to mix in another host and it was always a pain to have to render tracks individually.

Audition does it. Probably Reaper too.

Well...seems like a number of apps can do this. While I am aware of the other apps (Acid, Audition, Reaper, etc.) I don't know all their capabilities. I'm pretty much a Live, Cubase and Wavelab guy with a just enough knowledge of Sonar to be dangerous. Good to know this stuff. Thanks.

there will plenty of threads about how dissapointing the update is and how wonderful the update is after it's finally been released.

i'm having host envy and confusion..


i'm using T2 and i'm happy with what it can do, but i'm not digging it's approach to audio editing and i find i have to mouse around a little more than i like...i came up with Protools/Studio Vision/Sample Cell and i'm stil used to the old cut & paste style...i used to be an audio person for a job and logged many hours editing, and love it or hate PT, it works great...but i'm not buying into it anymore (and i've been tempted) because i like where i'm at now with PC, VST, and picking and choosing my hardware/software w/o a company telling me what to buy (except for Emu...hey, it was cheap and EmuX2 rocks!)

but after trying several wave editors and looking at DAW options, i'm getting a wandering eye...Sonor is very tempting, seems to pack it all and maybe close to what i was used to (but with lots of built in goodies i w may or may not use), and there are lots of inexpensive options that seem to have the basics covered...and there are other options like energyXT and Live, shit that's different in approach...

anyway: which one is the best? what do you use and why?

For myself, FL Studio is the most user-friendly host ever. This soft studio (which was just a drum machine in the early Fruityloops years) has a easy MIDI recording format & THE best piano roll ever.
