What's the fuzz?
It's not like you have to shell out hundreds of dollars for it (in contrast you have to do for other hosts)...
Spend the 50 euro-bucks and then just skip the the booze and disco for the weekend because i believe that's all you have to trade in for it. It shouldn't even be too hard since you don't have time to spend on booze and disco's after registering it :P

it's not that i couldn't afford it. it's because i couldn't justify buying it just for trying it out.

Even if you wait until the free version of 1.8 final will be released, you're not able to test the rendering function, since that is a feature exclusive to registered users. I can assure you, that it works fine, you have proper bpm now, so it's also no problem to create loops or other stuff for use in other hosts. If you have further questions, you may visit the forum or join us on IRC.

i ment trying out if i would be satisfied by what renoise has to offer with all the work-arounds going etc, which i doubt btw, and that's why i'm not rushing into buying it. i've been looking forward to every new version of renoise and tried them out, but i don't think it's there yet for me .. even with the 1.8 version ..

atm i'm testdriving sonar and waiting eagerly for xt2, which i think will become my "the" host.

but i'll think about it =)

Just a little update on Renoise and Fx-freeze.
Freezing and ultrafreezing instruments using FX-Freeze did not work in previous renoise versions. You could only use the trackfreeze. This now work in the 1.8 betas.
Next beta will also fix a small synching bug.
So now Renoise and FX-freeze work very well together.
To freeze a track or vsti you simply arm the fx-freeze plugin for freezing, then you solo that track and start render song using renoise rendering. This way you don't have to play the parts you wanna freeze. But render much faster offline. It's just a matter of presseing a few hotkeys, and then render out a 'dummy' file from renoise (just select fastest interpolation and 16 bit for fastest rendering).
There you go, nice and easy freeze in Renoise.

cheers
