Hey rizi...you sure can. Look at Wusik.com and look at the skins for Wusikstation. She's done a lot of others too. I think she did the skin for Oatmeal, another really good VSTi, adn a bunch of others also. I'm also a great admirer of her work. She doen't always get credit, but after you've seen a few you begin to recognize it by the quality.

For anyone like me who is new and wants to see more of Vera Kinter's work, I searched the web and found the "mother load." She has her own site at http://www.artvera-music.com/. There's a bunch of free GUI components (knobs, sliders, etc.) at the site. They are some kind of beautiful too!

Hi there,
Yes, Vera Kinter kindly did this GUI for us. She has signed the interface, but I will update our site with credit for all of our designers.

why is it suddenly useless if it doesn't have host presets? do you mean a preset system that uses standard fxb/fxp or one that reports the presets to the host?3*s wrote:Still no host preset support, so it's useless to me unfortunately.
Too bad, I really liked the sound just flipping through presets.
i agree that it's annoying when the standards are deviated from, but usually there are good reasons. and it wont stop me from using stuff like freealpha just because it does so.
what is critical to you about host presets? do you use receptor?

ah. there it is, you are a workflow junky3*s wrote:The trouble with fxp is I have to manage directories and what not.
With host presets it's just click and save. That's it.
It's like the difference between typing in notes in the piano roll and actually playing a vst with a controller. You can make and save variations at a creative pace.
there are benefits to doing it that way btw, and not relying on sonar -- one of them is your presets are portable to any other host, and another is it's very simple to back up your presets, and yet another is that because the fxp's are on disk you can organize them to your hearts content with multi-level folder structures.
assuming sonar saves to registry or ini, i'd prefer to save to fxp myself.

I think that the portability of presets is a good thing. The internal preset management system (which is all concisely explained in the included user manual) is a function of our synthesis core at the most fundamental level. One of the benefits is that you can actually use any preset for any of our instruments in any one of our instruments. So, you could for example, just load up all the Abakos banks into Viktor and they would sound the same (not always useful of course, but can be good for testing). It's a more sophisticated system than the standard model and reflects the underlying synth engine mechanics.

Thank you, Steve. Nice sounds.
You can add Sony Acid Pro 6 to the list of host that can play with Abakos.
Also, thanks to Vera for so nice skin.

Good to hear that Acid plays nice with it. It's tough to test in every host out there so that is useful to know.
