Played at matching volumes, it will beat out any competitor in the Olympics of musical alienation. The Residents, the Butthole Surfers, Fantomas, Tragic Mullato, Merzbow, you name it.
Well, considering you just listed a bunch of my favorite bands (though I haven't heard Tragic Mulatto in years; I wish I would have bought "Italians Fall Down and Look Up Your Dress" back when it was still available) I think I'm going to have to check out this bit of musical alienation. Is there a specific recording you would recommend over the others?

For example:

Well, I went through a mini mid-life crisis last year so I decided to put in a high end audio system into my car (speakers, amps, high-output alternator, high end cd deck...) into my little Toyota Echo hatchback. The stereo actually does costs more than my car and I also have a couple decals on the car that has artwork semi-inspired by H.R. Giger.

It is one of those cars that, if you saw it on the street, you would think it was driven by a high-schooler headbanger who robbed a video store to pay for a thumpin' audio system.

What is my music of choice, at full volume, driving through the city? Sarah Brightman, baby, Sarah Brightman. Opera all the way. Oh... and Josh Groban. Also, I get a few glances from pedestrians when I crank out the Doctor Who themes (I have a compilation disc that has various renditions of the Doctor Who theme).

I am such a 'tard.

well if you've a summer home on Salusa Secundus you've got bigger problems than your choice of music.

freak.

No, tards are kids who don't know it better and crank up their stereo in an insanely way so that the whole street knows "there it is again, the rolling disco sh*thouse!" and listen to chart shit at the same time (and by that I don't mean rock, but "Gasolina" and crap like that).

Another thing to blast is Diamanda Galas (especially recordings (like most of hers) that have no instrumentation. Just her voice).

Dune fans unite!

There is an alternate interpretation of my "summer home on Salusa Secundus". During the winter I live in a great city but during the summer, I move to a little shit-town (all because the pay is great) which feels like the barren, prison planet of Salusa Secundus. Plus, I just can't get enough Dune. :hihi:

Indeed.

Boulez is the king of conductors for this sort of thing.
