wow :?

if that thing doesn't host the software.........and is only 44.1/48k as a "soundcard"..........that's just not gonna work :(

Plus the volume, wah, expression pedals are an additional 99 bucks each :x

However, I will pony up for the x-gear...........will be a welcome addition to svx, at2, and jhe :D

Yeah, then you can route guitar tracks through bass cabs :D

OMG! I read this blurb and it stood out more than anything in the entire thread. YIKES!

So, to hook yourself with an IK amp for DSP purposes, you might be looking at a few thousand dollars, yeah? (Oh, but it's hand-made in Italy.)

IMO, there are a lot of REAL amps (e.g. Fender Princeton) that are much better alternatives for recording. As the hardware guys make adaptations for DSP applications, consumers will get an amp that can be used live (without a computer) and a tone that tickles the ear without taxing the CPU (and wallet).

When these software solutions were playing in the $100-$500 category, they were a bargain. Anything over a grand is link waiting to update/upgrade...for a small fee.

So, StompIO for $1049 plus tax, hugh? Of course, it needs a slew of $249-$399 modules (that are updating as we communicate) and a chainer to work. Yeah, right.

Personally, I'd pick up one of these, and still have money to buy plug and/or a GR2 to mix it with:

It's $1,428.56, on sale for $999.99.

Or, get a Line 6 POD unit and run that through a poweramp.
Remember the iLokalypse Summer 2013

Samples and presets and free stuff!

There's a viable solution, as well. :D

One of the problems with a $1,049 pedal, is that it's tied to software. How long will this "setup" stand the test of time? A real amp will be usable as long is the tubes are good- LoL!

NI has already revamped their GR interface! The Kore hardware component upgraded shortly after Kore one was introduced.

If StompIO has taken this long to come to market, how will potential repairs work? Whom does one send it to? What will that cost? What's the turnaround? What does one do in the meanwhile, after having invested $1,500+? Nobody knows. You're a beta user, simply put.

Will StompIO (v1) be usable with the latest OS 7 years from now? Will users run into a version discursion, trying to get a 5 year-old pedal to work with their new OS and a 2-3 year-old version? Most consumers can afford to eat a few hundred, as the years peel by. However, most of us cannot afford to peel off a few thousand.

I can't justify a box that big, without xpedels and has been announced for over 2 years.
so what

Yeah, I had that in another theard. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... ht=stompio

very expensive indeed.

Squids tells me that these units though are hand build in italy. I am not sure if it was only the first batches, or the production runs as well.

But it is a bit too much for an I/O interface and sound module with no DSP on board.
:?:

I thought that was the big thing about the stomp i/o that is housed all the ik stuff.........
Nop, it basically is a USB audio interface.

Well, it really is an audio interface like any other, meaning it is not tied to Amplitube per say or to software besides drivers, like any other device. I am not sure of it's MIDI abilities, but I am pretty sure you can use it with other hosts/sims.

The device in itself is rather interristing, and if the convertors are good, it has a place in someone's studio...but I doubt it at this price.

Btw, you do get the full version of Amplitube2 (or Metal) with the StompIO and the X-gear.

I thought that it was understood from the getgo that this was all that it was.

The only surprise to me really is the price.

that's what I mean, you think about even the street price (800ish) and it's like OMG!

And again, how bout those extra pedals for volume, wah, expression?

And....for that size.......what? You couldn't at least put one pedal on it? :hihi:

Propbably they will be announcing Expression-X-IO pedals next year :)

It's not really metal until a corporation tells you it is.

So to what extent are we going to be able to integrate products with this?
It appears we will be able to load up stomps from all different AmpliTube powered plugins in a single chain, right?

But will we be able to build an amp using a preamp from AmpliTube 2, an EQ section from ATJH, and poweramp from Metal?

Is this going to look like a single plugin with all the models present and accessible from the drop down menus, or is it going to be more like a clunky host that can only load the entire module page? (like the AmpegSVX TUNER page, the Metal STOMP page, the ATJH AMP page, and the AT2 CAB page.)

So far the info provided by IK Multimedia has been too vague to tell.

Bitching about prices is silly IMO.
I buy or don't, that's it. In this case i'm going to buy other thing.
IK guys just lose their minds. At least could have put it normal line in commutable to D\I.
The more i look at it the more i lust for the VG-99.
