Just saw the concert in HD on 'Crossroads' show on MTVHD.mellotronaut wrote:best record from last year ... even better than Radiohead's
Nice stuff indeed.
I actually just bought it on LP. Great production.
Did it win a grammy? Can't remember.
The stupid grammy's were so overshadowed by all the other more commercial junk that it probably got lost in the shuffle.
Happy that Herbie Hancock won though...
Greg
Don't ask me, I just play here.

More of you might know Alison than you think. She did the very beautifull 'Down to the river' on the O' brother where art thou soundtrack which if you havn't seen you must.

I somehow missed this thread entirely until now. One of my coworkers has been playing the Plant/Krauss CD constantly for months now. It isn't something I would have sought out on my own, but I find it a quite pleasant listen. The same coworker also plays the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack occasionally, and thats a great collection of songs as well (not to mention a fantastic film!).
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

I was introduced to Allison Krauss's voice through the "O Brother" soundtrack as well (though, being a record store employee through the 90s and early 00s, I knew of her and Union Station)
I think she has a terrific voice. And she's a babe!
But often, and this is the case with the Robert Plant collaboration, the performance isn't up there with her singing voice. Kinda...meh.
I bought the CD for my wife, who's more of an AK fan than I, and she was hardly blown away, either.
And I thought the production was too clean (reminded me of the production on the last few "Blind Boys of Alabama" CDs, actually), too much like they're all great session players, but they haven't yet gelled as a band.
As fer the idea that they're "an item": eww...

Moderately bummer news:

But, then again, Plant said this about the reunion which actuall did happen:

Hard to know what to think.
