I think this is, for the most part, a good move. I am a registered SC user for a while now. (JamesHE on the Vemberaudio Forums - was very critical recently in a forum post there) Suggesting SC1 be released free in order to drum up interest and make SC2 viable to finish. I am dissapointed that development stops, but I understand completly.
SC is not perfect for what I want in a sampler, but it sounds so incredible, I can't quit it.
The one reason that I am not at all feeling cheated for buying it is that now I expect to see some freebie sample sets being mapped out for SC. Very cool.

I'm quite surprised with the reaction of SC paying users. Most of it has been quite positive. I guess the users believe in this project and still wanna see it grow. I do to.

I think he should of made SC1 freeware and SC2 payware, but for like 50-100$ at the most and continue the development of v2. As things are now, I really don't know which one to use . SC1 has 16 mono outputs that are very useful for drums and bass, SC2 hasn't, just 8 stereo outs [or maybe I'm missing something?]. SC2 GUI is brilliant, SC1 hurts my eyes and the controls are left-right, not up-down, but I really like SC1 GUI, only I could gladly do away with any white in the GUI, especially background . This white background is so irritating that it forces me to use SC2. Is there a way to change white background into black and black font and lines into white?... that would look fantastic Sampling editor looks far more promising in SC2 and it's much easier to navigate than in SC1, also colours are top-notch in SC2 . SC2 is absolutely fantastic, simply brilliant.
Actually, if SC2 is as stable as SC1, and if I can live with panning the drums left-right in order to get 16 mono channels, I would use SC2 exclusively all the way. Beatslicing can be done in like 66 other apps, and I don't do it at all, so I can live without it.
It would be really great if Claes decided to give SC2 another go... oh maaaannn... [weepy] and charge for it, too. It's still not late to do that, as many users get hooked to both, they'd be asking for this and that, why not charging them for "this and that" then? The fact that SC2 v0.5 is free won't change anything but simply broaden the user base veeery quickly. I think Claes really deserves to get something back for his effort to make one of the best, if not the best, samplers in the VST world.

It a pity automation is not implemented in SC2 because I don't have any problems with it otherwise...
Ill use SC1 if I need to automate something...but SC2 is my main sampler/drum sampler from here on in..wow! thanks again...

I tried to find some automation options in cubase and they weren't there but maybe some things can be automated as you said..
EDIT: maybe you are referring to the internal mod routing options?, which are working fine..

oh, possibly he's referring to putting a CC on a specific parameter. You can still use the modwheel which is easy to setup and I know it works.
