a lot of that sound may come from the fx though, which was my point.
a good delay and reverb added to any synth can bring creaminess to the most harsh of sounds.
cant do the ogg at the mo, im not on my home pc.

As for the sound, it is pretty spectacular to my ears. Very alive, (forgive me the term) warm and with a sparkly shimmer. It's bright but doesn't have any harshness and it's very well balanced. I'd have a hard time coming close with any synth.
vurt wrote: so given that this could take a while as its a sound that pretty much most synths with added delay and reverb(not specified) can achieve, can you explain the excitement over given patch?

Here's an mp3: www.scherer.de/Download/OneMore.mp3
I've used a good reverb and a well-regarded modulation effect, but IMO it's shit in shit out. I think it's even the opposite, a great synth will react much better to the effects than a not-so-great one.vurt wrote:a lot of that sound may come from the fx though, which was my point.

So here's another one:
www.scherer.de/Download/MoreTest.mp3
This time it's both the orginal and the 'copy', and it's once with and once without FX. To avoid any bias I've recorded it with the copy (which reacts differently although the patch is the same) and used the same midi file to trigger the original.

cheers for the mp3.
so thats pre fx?
if so that is quite nice, but i still couldnt narrow it down to any meaningful level.
bare in mind im not on my home pc, or a pc with any decent sound system in place
and ok perhaps i should have said "a good delay and reverb can completely change the sound character"
all i meant was for a guess the synth perhaps dry would be better, as then its the synth were hearing

Thatone's very nice, but still it could be various synths ... but i admit the soundquality of the osc's seems very good ...living sounds wrote:So here's another one:

FM7, FM8 or Absynth? Reaktor?
I have heard that sound before but I cannot remember what virtual instrument made it.

ok, to rule some out, answer the questions:
- is it va
- is it new
- does it have it's own fx
- does it have fm/pm/am/ringmod
- does it use wavetable synthesis (i don't mean tables as osc's, but complete table scanning)
- is it freeware
- does it support osc-shapers
