This year was a big hardware year for me. New monitors, new computers not much in the way of new plug-ins.
I was going to pick up Omnisphere but after spending about 2 weeks with it at work, I was over it and back to my V-Synth and Zebra... I bought Effectrix, sold it... What else, I have Nexus, don't use it enough to upgrade to Nexus 2.
I bought Flux's spring pack which I love but I think that was an '07 release.
Schwa/Stillwell audio's stuff turned some heads. Togu Audio Line, SmEx stuff coming to MacTels, Zebra updates, Digidesign's Transfuser (not a VST), NuSofting's Broken Drum Machine. There might be a few others, but I can't recall... was AudioRealism's Drum Machine released this yera?

Unfortunately it's not Logic 9. Let alone any other Logic update (of which there are none).
But I think I gotta second the Synplant notion. Finally something refreshing and unusual, yet extremely easy for all of us non-synth-nerds. Maybe not an experienced sound designer's wet dream but certainly as inspiring as it gets.

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I don't have a single software to propose, with only Synplant as the sole exception. IMO nothing really new was presented, mainly more of the same. Omnibarf does not count as something new....

Great piece of kit, no doubt. But it's old as the hills, no?

I would say reaper and FL8 ( ..and I have! ), and then it could be argued that what I have got my hands on this year are upgrades of things that are "old as the hills" ...so dismissing all those, one prog stands out as being particularly useful and liberating. Forget the big guys, big cheers for pif vocoder

Well I only got it this year and its fab!Savihost?
