Thanks, 22tape!

The beauty of spending so much time here at KVR is that you get to find new sounds and new machines to try out and use almost everyday. (the curse is your GF thinks you're having an affair with a someone who has a blue email account) I work hard to keep myself interested in music as my life is better with it than without it, so finding new sounds, techniques, and applications is a serious hobby for me.
I am a victim of my moods both as a listener and a producer.janzak wrote:And lots of different moods is good! I'm mostly not in the same mood for long and I don't think music should be either!
It's probably a curse and a blessing, but finding a pocket for everything to fit neatly in (so i can have a bajillion sounds happening at once without overwhelming the listener in me too much) is a lot of what I enjoy doing musically.janzak wrote:I love how you're able to have so much sound without instruments competing for "audio space". There's a word for that, right?
The gear I use is all over this forum.jansak wrote: ask you what gear you use but I have to say that I'm impressed in the amount of... different single sounds and samples, simply put, you've managed to create

So what's the secret in being able to get that many tunes out!!??
I'm lucky if I can get a few decent ones a year

Good question.
A steady and comfortably fast workflow is important.
Also there's:
-coffee
-support from friends and family to pursue my weird obsession
-a mix of patience and stubbornness
-the ability/open mindedness to make more than one kind/genre/style of music
-when I am stuck or uninterested in a song I am working on - I simply move on and revisit it many months later (sometimes years). This allows me to always have something new or very old to work on, but it also keeps me from working on something 'uninspired' (moody, remember?).
-set aside specific times for music, schedule it, if you have to and give it some priority.
-don't overthink something to death, but still be overly critical of your output that you share.
-escapism
-little gnomes trained to make beats for you while you sleep
For every track on that list, there are 3-4 sitting on a hard drive - nearly finished - that just weren't ready to share with anyone but those closest to me (if that) because they didn't represent how I was feeling at the moment. These are the ones I will revisit later, donate to another project (jaes 1, water fae, from Noise to Water, etc) or simply abandon as a learning experience.
Hope you weren't just asking a hypothetical question.

mid year bump (a friend was looking for this post)
And FYI, I am now on reverbnation, soundclick, twitter, and facebook for anyone wanting to be a friend or fan on any of these locations (or take me in as a fan!).

I dig that one, too. It's easy to make a good remix if the original song is awesome (as is the case with that 3Am track. Thanks, Silenthill.
