Nope. Because the fact that it was only guitars, bass, and drums was the very reason I did not join the group buy. I specifically asked if there would be more instruments, because one of the demo songs Squids posted was a Steely-style song, and I asked about the keys. I am positive that it was made clear that it was only guitar, bass, and drums. (However, I even pointed out the Sweetwater ad at that point, which STILL said that they would be included. IK needs to give them a call.)ten2one wrote:Squids wrote:I recall some discussion during the gb that the 3 instruments we received were to let us get acquainted with Studiophonic and that there would be additional instruments soon.ten2one wrote:Well, it was old information that maybe a web site has mistakenly put up recently perhaps. Squids,
I just wanted you to know I got that information from a major website today! It may be an old ad but they are presenting the Studiophonic package as an upcoming release with all the things I quoted in my last post.
I just wanted you to know I didn't dig something up from last year!

No you didn't come across as questioning integrity or anything, I just wanted to clarify (and kick myself for not following through on the suggestion that we somehow archive the group buy threads as I had suggested in the past). Either Squids or myself can see if Drew or someone at IK can get Sweetwater to pull that. They've had that up for years IIRC.
Squids basically reiterated the modified scope just above, on this page:

I joined this group buy last year (September?). Frankly, I doubt this will ever be released, clearly it's been put way on the backburner and eSoundz has had my cash for well over 6 months. May I also remind you that the original pitch of the GB was that Studiophonik would be out before the end of 2008.
Yes, I know we got great value, yes I know Squids is the hardest working man in sound design and sampling and they're all great guys at esoundz, but I think they have really dropped the ball with this, and the vague indefinite statements don't change my views.
Disappointing, and just the faintest tinge of underhanded business practices about it.

I have purchased and received alot of great value from Sonic/esoundz in the last year and a half. The one major porblem I have with Sonic Reality is that they seem to have waaaaay too many projects/products in development at one time. The end result is alot of hype, prediction and excitement, but then only some of it is completed or it is delayed for a looooooong time (Ken Scott Collection, Neil Peart Drums...etc.) I used to get excited about this stuff, but while I am waiting for a product to be released (far past its projected date) I see an announcement that several new OTHER projects/products are being started......
Perhaps better scheduling or project management is the issue. I understand that inevitably there will be delays, but starting new stuff when the old stuff isn't done yet, leads to customer dissapointment.
I know that the Studiophonik deal has to do with IK too, but maybe they (Sonic Reality) shouldn't be announcing imminent release statements if they don't actually know (or control the entire product).
How about (SR) finish the stuff "we" are already waiting for, before announcing or starting the next thing you want us to be waiting for.

The Prelude itself was made to be worth the price of the group buy (and to get the Prelude sounds now it costs $100 more). The EXTRA bonus was that by joining you'd even get the full Studiophonik when it comes out.bdr wrote:I joined this group buy last year (September?). If we didn't deliver anything and took people's money that would be one thing. But, we did deliver the Prelude and as a bonus on top you guys all get the full main Studiophonik when it comes out. It's important to note that that's the extra part, not the other way around. If we thought people would be disappointed not getting the extra when they expected it we wouldn't have offered it at all. It was meant as a nice gesture to those that bought the Prelude (to make sure they didn't kick themselves for getting it then and missing what was coming out later). I think it was misunderstood by some of you. Hopefully you understand what I am saying. If you see, Studiophonik Prelude is $99 X 3 (Guitar, Bass & Drums) and you all got it for $199 which was a group buy savings. You got the better deal and even something extra on top. We hope you're happy with that, even if the extra on top is taking longer than expected. You'll still get it and you have plenty for your money now.

I understand your point. There's no question Studiophonik's release has been through odd stages of off and on, hard to predict etc. Ken Scott Collection and Neil Peart have never officially had a release date set though (technically Neil Peart hasn't even been officially announced as a product). We like to keep people informed of our works in progress because it is fun. I do my best to guess when something will be out when we're asked but I usually make the disclaimer that we're not sure exactly when. We estimate. Regarding our production schedules and what we're working on or how we're doing it etc. we do our best to be able to create all that we want to create as quickly as we can without sacrificing quality.mike1k wrote:I have purchased and received alot of great value from Sonic/esoundz in the last year and a half. Had to edit out your "boycott" part. But we get the message. Studiophonik will be finished before the end of the week and released at some point in the next month or two when it is finalized at IK.ephraze619 wrote:I feel your pain, dude. We DO have some "hypersampled" Reason stuff coming.
A "ST3" is totally not up to us as we don't make IK software. IK does. We just do sounds and we're doing our best.
Also, we love drums. LOVE drums. So, we sample a lot of drums. But we also sample everything!

Sorry to bring this back up, but is there a release date now?
I'm still kind of lost on what I got for the Group Buy, as well as what I'll be getting. I know it's drums, guitars, and bass, but all this stuff about additional samples along with the full plug-in, et caetera, has confused me.
All I know is that I'm not using any of the samples I got from the Group Buy (except for SS2, which was my freebie, and it rocks), because I still haven't bought SampleTank. I was planning on just using the Studiophonik plug-in instead of SampleTank...
Thanks,

That doesn't make sense Ryan. The Studiophonik Prelude Groupbuy came with SampleTank 2.5 engine. You can use those sounds if you got the engine. If for some reason you didn't then contact support and we'll figure it out for you.
As far as the free upgrade to the full product, that is coming and it will be additional sounds as the full product is going to be a SampleTank sound collection that works with SampleTank as the player. It's exactly the same as what Studiophonik was going to be, just different graphics. I know those graphics did look cool. But the functionality is exactly the same... there's even more functionality with the included SampleTank engine in fact.

Uh no. Remember there's no official word about that. But it stands to reason that something would be in the works... and it will be good and it will enhance what you can do with all of your SampleTank sounds. That said, drifting off topic like that could be what is confusing some people so...zedd wrote:Any news on when the new SampleTank engine is likely to be released?Squids wrote:...there's even more functionality with the included SampleTank engine in fact.
