I have Nebula

The problem is Nebula is all hype. It has its religious converts but the majority of us see it as frustration. Its so poorly designed it begs you to uninstall it.

and if someone is making a claim like this--I dont think its my responsibility to reinstall it or buy it to find out once again that the person was piping out their arse. Hence, the clips

I am stone cold atheist. It is just that I like more these new Nebula's cab models and reverbs than impulse ones. Impulses have always felt somehow flat to me but Nebula feels better. But there is of course price with Nebula's reverbs: they are huge memory munchers and also their tails are little chopped on many programs. Anyway They sound better than convolution. I have to say that I generally don't like the digital reverb with DAWs. I am also cheapskate so I don't have hundreds of euros to buy some decent algorithm FX (or the real thing like plates).

Another great stuff with Nebula is EQ but usually it is still easier to use dedicated plugins for that.

But those cab models, well they clearly sound better than impulses. Yes, maybe that set wasn't ideal miking or whatever but it already sounded better (in other words it didn't have that flat sound).

I think there is no better comparisons than direct sound files from real cab and same thing with nebula programs. There you can hear how close this thing is. And that is what MR. AE did.

And I really don't understand what is hard in using nebula? I mean if you let that deep stuff aside. Programs and couple of parameters, sometimes even not those. I admit that this installation and such might seem little cryptic but once you got it, it is very easy.

And if you use older version that won't work with some new programs, well, isn't it obvious? just update the thing. It is free.

for tails, don't forget to unlock nebula so it will play longer tails.
In your MAST page there is a parameter named L FREQD. If it's limited to 2 sec, increase to 8 seconds or more. Than push SAVE in the MAST page.

Hey, thanks! I didn't know that. I got to check it out. There are some beautiful verbs in nebula.

My Cabs plugins also do that, though not in exactly the same way. I could use a new set of demos- as always I get in trouble trying to make those myself- but it was enough to make me agree with your basic point, that something like Nebula is the ideal way to make a cab sim. I'm not surprised it's working well for you

I probably could get going on a v2.0 of mine and improve it a lot...

Ahem. Does anybody have any cab sims that work on Nebula Free? Due to the chaos of moving preparations, I've lost track of backups, and you can't use Mercuriall Cab (which uses the same basic Volterra technology) on everything. TIA!

I just posted in the thread about the new PA tube saturator HG-2 - some rave about it and some wouldn't pay a $1 for it. It's pretty much the same with most plugins. Take Nebula for example. one person here says its not worth it. I picked it up in January and have since spend $1000's on libraries because it's worth it (to me) - I love it and it has transformed the way I work and the sound quality I am able to achieve. Different strokes for different folks. We all have to remember that whatever we think of a tool it's just our opinion and the old adage YMMV applies.

Fanboy has become the new word to easily categorize people into "Us vs Them" groups.

I own both HG-2 and Nebula (+ Aqua plugins), does this make me a fanboy of either? I use both. I like both systems for their respective strengths (and I absolutely loathe the cumbersomeness that comes with Nebula/Aqua but it _is_ worth it to me in the situations I choose to use them).

Is it just me or has the word Fanboy been twisted so much lately that it's pretty much become useless and no longer represents what it originally was meant to mean (a fanatic of some sort). It's being thrown around on a lot of people who are clearly very open minded, articulate and non-fanatic like.. it's become a word that's a quick stab at anybody who has a differing opinion, no matter how rationally it was presented.

We live in polarizing times, that's for sure. Could somebody make up a word that is the exact opposite to fanboy? Fan-of-all-working-solutions-boy?

Language itself has been hypercharged in the last decades in my opinion. Everything mildly positive is said to be incredible, awesome or epic. Bad things are instant catastrophes. If you have a politically conservative opinion you are Hitler himself. If you like something you are a brainwashed fanatic.

And especially these Nebula friends are hyping their beloved products in all communities I'm in - as if they get paid for it. That's annoying, not infomative and I'm now fighting back this unnecessary thread abuse.
