I cast my vote. Went for "Death Is A Happy Cat - Gamma-UT" with "Shamaniz - Made In Two Hours" as runner up. They both have this minimal house approach with a bit of late 80s acid on top but Gamma-UT appealed to me more musically so that's where my vote went.
As for future contests SQ8L is still my favorite but some of the Krakli plugins could be fun too. RMXL in particular.

i love watching these synth challenges.. so much talent it needs to have recognition.
what i'll do is when the next comp is over i'll need the address of the winner just so i can send them the prize by special delivery.
ps
the waldorf edition prize will be delivered by me anywhere in the world regardless of cost to me
so im thinking the next challenge is gonna be a good one
best

Hey guys!
Well, I evaded the Tammie Nories and Bonxies in Orkney and have had a good listen to the tracks. Lots of great stuff there though - plenty of scope for atmospheric Cyber Punk with SFXR methinks. Anyway, in the end I cast my vote for Mouxbar's - Forbidden Planet.

Anyone having an issue with sq8l not saving presets when reopening a project file? I just opened the Cubase project and every instance has a different sound as what I saved it as.

Well, if it's happening to me, then it's probably happening to everyone who tries to use it in a contest.

I think it's a demo limitation (has been disccussed somewhere else here).MadPsyance wrote:Anyone having an issue with sq8l not saving presets when reopening a project file? I just opened the Cubase project and every instance has a different sound as what I saved it as.

Right, but an OSC involves only free synths, not demo synths, no?

Don't know if there are some specific requirements for the synth to be used in the contest... I would be curious to hear what people can do with my Galileo
The 2 arpeggiators should offer some fun and a little bit of headache too

Personally, if I were to do a track for the next contest, I wouldn't want to have to render to audio everything just because I had to close my host down for whatever reason. I like to screw around with synth parameters right up until the very end.

SQ8L is fine in Fruity but if it mucks around in other DAWS I'd personally rule it out - mind you, I have been rendering off a fair bit using the SFXR VST anyway. It's not impossible but let's make it easy for folks IMHO.MadPsyance wrote:Personally, if I were to do a track for the next contest, I wouldn't want to have to render to audio everything just because I had to close my host down for whatever reason. On the site, SQ8L is said to be a fully functioning demo awaiting a "pro" version with more features at a later date. Which never seems to have been born after some years... I think Tattie would need to make a call on that one if he decides to go in this direction...
As to the suggestion of Krakli plugs - I'd by happy with any of them, they're all interesting. Obviously we'd need to rule out Cygnus and probably Gargoyle as well (amongst others) as they wouldn't be able to be used for a full track. Plenty of others to have a go at though
Thanks for the votes - I was getting worried
