The tube stage in BootEqMKII is good (along with the low-frequency exciter it has) but can get a little "smeary" with the sound and affects how distinct the instruments sound...though it can be used to cover a bad mix in some cases because of that.
Thanks for that. You sound pretty expereinced with it -- would you mind sharing a bit more re how you set up the master buss fx chain? In which order do you put FerricTDS? Also, do you use its dynamics, and if so, do you put additonal bus compression on with something else?
Grateful for any advice...

Is it not anything that could be EQ'd out? What do you use now?Keith99 wrote:I used to use Ferric but I found it adds too much high frequency content
Sorry for all my questions in this thread, but this is something I want to get better at...

Yes I'm asking because he is kind of compressor guru around these parts of internets, I'm wondering if he has noticed this plug-in ...ttoz wrote:i am pretty certain he will love it, and if he doesn't, it will be the first actual time in history i have fullly disagreed with himpenguinfromdeep wrote:Bmanic, what do you think about the Kush Audio UBk-1?
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

He's obviously not on Mac logic or Pro-tool because he'd of been all over it already.penguinfromdeep wrote:Bmanic, what do you think about the Kush Audio UBk-1?
Speaking of compression what I love about UBK-1 is at the flick of a switch turn of a knob you have instant 1176 all buttons vibe with the huge bonus of Wet/Dry that unfortunately UA plugins don't have

Anyway, I have lots of saturation options, but the one I use most often is the free Voxengo Tube Amp, in Mode 2 with 8x oversampling: great way to subtly thicken a mix or submix without colouring it too much. Its a shame he didn't include a dry/wet mix control on the interface for this type of scenario, but I discovered that switching the oversampling to linear phase mode allows me to use Reaper's dry/wet mix knob (or run the plug in a send/return loop "NY" style) without creating any phase problems.

Rough mix or mixes in a budget: VCC into VTM-M2
The rest: AlexB MLC into CDSoundmaster R2R (specifically Otari 30ips with 499 tape at 0dB) and finally VTM-M2

Haven't tried it yet as we don't have Pro Tools TDM nor Logic. But I'm fairly confident in saying that it probably kicks some serious ass! It is after all containing the UBK name!penguinfromdeep wrote:Bmanic, what do you think about the Kush Audio UBk-1?

Perhaps the world IS coming to an end this year.

I liked it. That was when I used something on the master bus. I prefer to handle coloration, ie., warm up the sterility, more particularly now.
