i am building my list too, today my 1st choice is the Moog Minitaur,
2nd DSI Mopho. (based on youtube demo (eeek!))
i will wait some month. The real availability of the Minitaur will
decrease price of some other gears i guess.
here some other cheap HW synth:

OT:Good control over softsynths is why i love maschine. It's not quite perfect but being able to load up a softsynth have the controls mapped and automate them is like the missing link. I'm thinking about a vst editor for the mopho so i'd be able to use it more hands on with the maschine controller and have full access to all it's controls.
Mopho was a way to test the waters, if i buy another analog i'd rather have something with lots of pots and vco, i like the idea of a semi modular like the doepfer DE that can be expanded.

Agreed! Maschine + Minitaur would be an incredible pairing, actually.musikmachine wrote:OT:Good control over softsynths is why i love maschine. It's not quite perfect but being able to load up a softsynth have the controls mapped and automate them is like the missing link.

Could you explain how you would use them together?Uncle E wrote:Agreed! What I like about Mintaur is that it has knobs to control everything, without having to mess around with midi.
I like my Maschine for midi control, because it's sturdy and the knobs feel great, as opposed to all the flimsy plastic midi controllers out there.
I don't understand why they stripped the dedicated 8 rotary controllers from Maschine micro, that's like my favorite part of the original Maschine.
Ironically I hardly use Maschine for it's intended purpose, because I just can't enjoy the software/plugin, mastering it is far more complicated than I imagined. That's why I'm looking forward to "hands on" products like Minitaur.

Yes, you're right. I was thinking more about the sound of Minitaur and forgot that it's not really what we're talking about.plastic wrote:Could you explain how you would use them together?

Cool! I didn't realize the Pulse 2 will be paraphonic!novaflash wrote:here some other cheap HW synth:

Say would it be usable/feasible to take a Hardware VA, turn it's filters off(perhaps not in some cases) and route the output into the minitaur's filter?Uncle E wrote:Yes, you're right. This would mean of course after the modulation and would be the end of the VA's signal flow and the built in FX off as well

Yes, this works. The Monotron is surprisingly cool for this, as well.whitecloud wrote:Say would it be usable/feasible to take a Hardware VA, turn it's filters off(perhaps not in some cases) and route the output into the minitaur's filter?

Say if this is the case with the monotron if I got the delay version could I just use it for the filter and delay fx and not mess with the ribbon? Or is using the ribbon necesary?Uncle E wrote:Yes, this works. The filter on the Monotron Delay is a simplified version of the original Monotron - they've dropped the peak/resonance control (I guess it must be fixed now?) to make way for the delay controls. But yes, this could be used just for processing external signals through the filter & delay. I'm sure this is what most people will use it for. In some synths with external audio inputs you need a gate event to trigger the envelope or you don't hear anything from an external input (as is the case with my Neptune 2). With the Monotron it just processes whatever comes in so you don't need to touch the ribbon controller ..... unless you want to of coursewhitecloud wrote:Say if this is the case with the monotron if I got the delay version could I just use it for the filter and delay fx and not mess with the ribbon? You mentioned in your previous post about turning off the filter on a synth & processing through a separate/external filter. What I have done sometimes with my MS2000 is open the filter right up (cut off) & turn the resonance right down. Now effectively the filter isn't really doing anything. I then put the output through my Xone VF-1 analogue filter to add a bit of something that wasn't quite there on the MS2000. Works a treat

Get the original or the DUO. The DELAY looks fun but it's not even an analog delay.Dogboy73 wrote:The filter on the Monotron Delay is a simplified version of the original Monotron - they've dropped the peak/resonance control (I guess it must be fixed now?) to make way for the delay controls.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the leipzig. I think I like the inherent sound better than the minitaur but this is a bit more money due to the analog sequencer on board as well. ( it also has the moog style ladder filter)
but the minibrute, if the build quality is solid, (and it looks to be) is full of win with the CV I/O and Steiner Parker filter and coming in at about $500. Someone using both discount codes from musicians friend just managed to get it for $360 stupid stupid money.
