Both trials come with the same functionality as the full versions and can be used for 30 days.

Purchased Retrologue 2 days ago, now i'm wondering a bit. Where is the VST2 of it being installed? The installer, whether for the trial version, or the regular installer when you bought it, don't seem to have the option to let you configure where it's installed. And it seems like it has only installed the VST3 into Program Files/Common Files/VST3/Steinberg/Retrologue. Of course i can use it in Cubase now, but wondering why it says VST2/3 compatible host then on the system requirements, or is VST3 "backward compatible"?

I used to have it and used it in Mulab, which, at least back then, did not even support VST3, so obviously it works somehow.
Yes, it installs without asking where, not to mention the copy protection, glad I sold it...
Unlike what people have written here, I heard quite some noise with some patches, not overly clean at all in my view. The more I used it, the less I liked it.

I'm pretty much underwhelmed. So it's another Minimoog emulation.
It has one screwed-up, counterintuitive layout, I'll give you that. I've had it for 5 months and have used it once.

Not sure if we're talking about the same plugin here, maybe you meant Prologue.
Wonder where it installs the VST2 then, i can't find it anywhere...fluffy_little_something wrote:I used to have it and used it in Mulab, which, at least back then, did not even support VST3, so obviously it works somehow.
IMO, it sounds great btw, you can get some really nice trancey arps, pads and basses out of it. Not exactly a retro sound, rather modern, which i like.

they need to fix the patch browsing (it needs to be broken down into categories) before it will be usable for me. I liked the sound of it but never went back because of the PITA patch browser. Am I missing something? Is there a more intuitive browsing function that I missed?

What's up with the trial version? I can't get it to show up in Ableton(64bit), but S1 (also 64bit) has no problem scanning it.

Could be the same thing i described above, that is that Retrologue only installs the VST3, and Studio One does support VST3, while Ableton doesn't. Still not sure why Retrologue doesn't install the VST2, as it says on Steinberg's site, and in the docs, that you got to have a host that supports VST2 or VST3 in order to run Retrologue...

Found out where Retrologue's VST2 is stored now... on my computer, i don't know if it differs, i guess so, it stores it into C:/Program Files/Cakewalk/Vstplugins. Very weird for a Steinberg plugin.
Wonder if i can move it from there, and why it sits there anyway, as it is the only plugin installed in that folder... maybe the folder was created when i installed z3ta 1, i don't know...
Edit: Just checked on my desktop computer, and the folder where Retrologue stores its VST2 is C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VST there, "how it should be". (actually it should store the VST2 and VST3 in the folders i specify but whatever...)

I don't think one can simply move an installed application to another directory. It's not a jpeg file.

Yep, you're probably right, and its path is registered in the registry somewhere. Might reinstall it on my laptop, as the Cakewalk folder is completely redundant, and i can't be arsed to specify hundred folders in my hosts... just deleting the Cakewalk folder after i uninstalled Retrologue will do i guess.
