I will do the Strobe presets. I have them pretty much done anyway.
All 128 of them.

I couldn't really hold my head up high if i didn't.

Don't expect too much - it is mainly drum and snare and percussion like sounds.

But i'll upload it and you can have it.

cheers.

Ok, just came across these looking thru an old hard drive, so I thought I'd get it out of the way.

NEW LINKS FOR GEIST EXPANDER AND SKINS:

Strobe-SynDrum.part1.rar

Strobe-SynDrum.part2.rar

Please read the read me file that comes with it for instructions.

Thanks to bluedad and sinkmusic for offering to host it on their sites - you can thank them otherwise I don't think I would have bothered. So kudos to them....

Give them time to get it up though, for now the links above should work.

I will try to get the Strobe presets uploaded in the next weeks.

cheers.

Sorry for the semi-necro on this thread, but I want to say thanks to codec_spurt and the folks who are hosting this expander.

And -- I bet a fair number of us have gotten or will get Geist this month, and will be looking for stuff like this. :D

Just got around to updating these 'skins' for Geist v1.1.1.2

The skins included in my previous download do not work with this version. But these new ones do. :-)

Bit of work figuring out why they wouldn't work, but I got there in the end. These skins fix the GUI redraw bug that no one else has seemed to notice in Geist, when you minimize the browser window and mouse around by the transport. It's subtle, but it's as annoying as hell when you notice it. I told FXpansion about this and how to fix it, it just involves deleting an alpha channel or something equally as easy - but for some reason they didn't bother to fix it for the new update.

It's not really a big deal and I've checked it several times on several computers on both WinXP and Win7 - it's definitely a bug. Maybe they will fix it for the new update. It took me a whole week of work to figure out. Then another week to do the skins. These ones have taken me a couple of days on top...

Anyway, it's fixed now with these new versions. These are totally unsupported of course. Use at your own risk and don't forget to backup your resources folder. Instructions are given in the previous Strobe-Syndrum download. But the skins included in that dl will not work with this latest version. Hope that's clear.

For those of you that just want to download the new skins, either because you have the previous free expander, or because you're just interested in only the skins, here they are from my dropbox:

And thanks to everyone who hosted the previous files. Nice one! Please feel free to host these if you like, or spread them 'round - whatever.

And thanks to FXpansion of course, for making the best damn drum machine on the planet.

:-o

It worked out quite well in the end because I have improved these skins quite a bit - better contrast, more things coloured for consistency, etc.. and I've also got a new monitor and have adjusted the gamma of it (best I can without a spider).

So... alles klar!

Thanks for these again! :)
I am visually impaired and your dark skin makes Geist so much easier for me to use.
So much so I want to buy you a beer... or coffee or whatever, as a proper thank you..
Send me a PM so I can sort that out...

No worries. I'm a bit visually impaired myself after making them and staring at a screen 18 hours a day without blinking.

:-)

Time for glasses or contacts for me I'm afraid. Oh well, I've done pretty well so far.

I got glassed in a nightclub and had my left eye cut out. Thankfully they put it back together and after three months of blindness, my eyesight slowly started to come back. I came a quarter of a Millimetre away from losing it - it just missed my retinal nerve. So I guess I was lucky, eh? ;-) And when they pulled the stitches out of it, it actually tickled a bit. Not many people know what it feels like to have a piece of nylon fishing line pulled through their eyeball, but I do!

I had it tested a year later and it was 20/20. Actually, my eyesight is better in that eye than the other one. I guess the body compensates. It is a holy temple for sure.

So, I got no complaints, but man staring at a screen for hours on end does no good in the long run. Now I know why all the graphic designers I know wear glasses.

One of the reasons I did the skin was because I am very sensitive to light, being a bit autistic. I am also very sensitive to sound as well. I can listen to a pumping 10K rig at a rave and love it to pieces if it's a quality system, but if I come round your house and you have the telly on too loud, I will either ask you to turn it down or walk out the room.

But, back to the skin - I think the quality of the interface design is excellent with Geist, I just thought it could be improved slightly to my tastes, so it pleases me no end that someone else has found it useful. This is why I do the work.

Talking of 'visually impaired', you might want to check out Knoppix, if you like that kind of thing. It has a raft of audio programs installed and working.

http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-adriane/index-en.html

Proffesor Klaus Knopper named it after his wife. Actually I think I am a bit dyslexic too coz I always read her name as 'Ariadne'. And I've been using it for years. That is the first time that I've realised.

Oh well.

Thanks for the props.

I'll be in London in a few weeks hopefully, so I'll take you up on that beer. I might even buy you one back.

:-)
