Closest thing with low CPU is probably Korg's MS-20 or Minimonsta, but Tyrell is also low compared to Diva.

The choice really depends on what you really want to do with the synth.

For me the main reason to get Diva was to get a proper emulation of both the Jupiter 8 and the Minimoog. Last year i sold e.g. Arturia Jupiter 8V and Minimonsta as they did not really sound as close as i wanted. BTW i had both a real Jupiter and a real Mini back in 2004/2005.
Last year i also got a Moog Slim Phatty (after selling several of my unused softsynths) and i don't feel that Diva really replaces that one, also due to the fact that it is not meant to be an exact replication of the Mini or that it got several features that the Mini did not have (maybe it is closer to a Prodigy or a Source).

If you search for other synths (besides e.g. Dune and Diva) with good analog like sound you could try e.g. the Xils Lab synths, Synth Squad, Sylenth1, ImpOScar 2, Saurus or TimewARP 2600 (I only named synths i own myself).

If you search for a synths with low CPU use you could check e.g. the KORG emulations, Sylenth1, Saurus or Synthmaster 2.5.

If you search for multi purpose synths (like Dune is IMO also due to the additional waveforms and the extensive mod matrix including the "Differential Unison Engine") you could look for e.g. Synthmaster 2.5, ElectraX, Zebra 2.5, Largo, Alchemy or Z3TA+ 2.

I've experience programming and using both synths. Like most people have said so far, you have to state what your looking to create with it.

However imo both are easy to program and both sound very good, however they excel in different areas too and both have weaknesses. This is why we need to know what you want to make with them.

Just tested Saurus due to this post. doesn't come close to Diva's analog sound. how would that be a fair comparo at all?

How is Dune vs Diva any comparison? They are two completely different instruments. The OP is basically saying "I need a tool. Hammer or Screwdriver? ". Yet he doesn't tell us what job he needs to do. Need to drive in a nail? I'd go with the hammer.......need to set a screw? Yea you got it..........

The reason I said Dune vs Zeta+2 is because their architecture is much more similar than Diva's. Saurus is aimed at the same niche as Diva so the comparison is natural. Whether one is more "analog" than the other or sounds better is a matter of personal taste and best solved by the OP downloading and trying both demos.......he should download all three demos and pick the tool best suited to his job.....

Can Sylenth load Osc waveforms like Dune? No, which is why I said a comparison of Dune to Z3ta+2 is much more suited since Z2 can load waveforms and is more closely matched feature wise. All three can do the same fat trance sounds.....which one does it better is a matter of personal opinion but Dune's and Z2's ability to load Osc wavforms gives them an edge in versatility.......(I own and love all three and they reside quite comfortably side by side in my vst folder).

Symphonic Orchestra might be better suited for all we know !

Yea that's what I'm saying....kind of hard to give a recommendation when we don't even know what it's for. He should just try the demos and see what he likes best......unless this thread is just some kind of wind up......

I believe, if I remember correctly. A limitation for DuneCM is only one bank at a time.

I feel it's Tyrell too, but the closest I got to Diva sounds is with TAL-Elek7ro.

I also feel some of the Korg analog models, have certain aspects of it, but Elektro by far. In fact, I would even go as far as suggesting that some (however slight) inspiration for Tyrell and Diva, may have come from it...possibly.
As well as the other TAL synths. They're all quite great imo.
