Why can't Alchemy be the new Omnisphere?

Well, thank you for all your comment as the OP.
But I think there's justification for wanting X to be new Y; because it gives us more choices and that's what product development often ends up being. Perhaps there's truth to how Alchemy has caught on the Absynth on sound design level (well.. you could disagree...) and if I had to choose now I would choose to use a tool that works all the time because that means I can make more sounds and do more with one.
Yeah, clearly FM8 will never replace Geist, but sometimes I feel one software's design is refined enough that you either expect it to turn into doing something different (add features or focus on something new) or something else catching up and doing (almost) the same thing. And I thought I saw something like that with Omnisphere, so I felt like asking, and got plenty of interesting comments.
So I am strictly speaking in the sense of workflow, not specifications. For those who do media work, Omnisphere always comes out as the first synth recommendation. I wonder what will change that. Not seeing much utility in having both but being in need of one of those would imply you would want your choice to do more.

For making an "apple and oranges" thread?Echoes in the Attic wrote:Silliest thread ever. Congrats.

Just look at the thread title. It isn't about choices but lack of choices. Something has to be the new something else. They can just be themselves.schnapsglas wrote:For making an "apple and oranges" thread?Echoes in the Attic wrote:Silliest thread ever. Congrats.I would agree if I suddenly started comparing a reverb plugin with a amp modeller, but I don't know why some feel everything must be different, when people have to make choices between an apple and orange. By comparing.

Sorry the thread title reads like Daily Mail, but I would disagree the subject matter is not about "why can't this be that" but "could this end up doing that", which are two different things.braj wrote:Just look at the thread title. why cant the 'why cant alchemy be the new omnispehere' thread be the new 'utterly pointless comparison' thread?

Because it's not "Let's find out the differences between Alchemy and Omnisphere?" I even acknowledge that they are different in the first post.whyterabbyt wrote:why cant the 'why cant alchemy be the new omnispehere' thread be the new 'utterly pointless comparison' thread?
I don't understand. Would you have been happier if the thread title was "Could Alchemy's development end up replacing Omnisphere's unique status from our workflow?" Because KVRers don't read anything except the thread title?

The thing is Omnisphere doesn't have a unique status in 'our workflow' there is no 'our workflow' your premise is bad to begin with. If you were asking for your own needs that is one thing, but there is no universal 'workflow' world where Omnisphere rules them all. I'm just saying

Alright, I'm sorry. Would you be happier if the thread title was "Could Alchemy's development end up replacing Omnisphere's status because (insert my first post here)?" You are just trying to pick out what is wrong with the thread title, and I am saying I believe the question is a legitimate one.braj wrote:The thing is Omnisphere doesn't have a unique status in 'our workflow' there is no 'our workflow' your premise is bad to begin with. oh, thats easy, one is limited to the inbuilt samples the other i can incorporate my own samples.schnapsglas wrote:Because it's not "Let's find out the differences between Alchemy and Omnisphere?"whyterabbyt wrote:why cant the 'why cant alchemy be the new omnispehere' thread be the new 'utterly pointless comparison' thread?
so, why cant omnisphere be the new alchemy would be a better thread title. still silly, but better.
