Yeah I am happy about that too.idfpower wrote:Well congratz for making it this farIt's good to see a project growing (unfortunately a lot of DC entries got dropped after the competition) and there's certainly a lot of love and work put in this synth
Really an interesting synthesizer. Andrew asked me a few days ago for some ideas about percussion & drum sound creation. I have not tried it either on HYDi so I agreed and played around for a few hours.
I am pretty excited that HYDi kicks ass even with that kind of sound. I used fx I haven't used much before. This synth comes with an Early Reflection fx modul that works like a charm. The Resonator modul in the mfx section gives you lot's of choices for additional timbres. With this new build we even have a compressor in the mfx section. Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to.
The challenging part for us was more to compensate the lack of the dc resets of the generator waveforms. So I used the additional click option in the amp section for some transient sound.
HYDi's amp can now be routed either pre or post filter which has some massive impact on the timbre of a filter's sound. This can totally change their character that way (eg. try it on the LP 24db B).
I created some nice Kickdrums with various techniques, the snare sound took me some time to sound like a snare but now sounds pretty solid to my ears, a basic conga patch (ring modulation) and hi hats of course. And while I was creating hihats I have forund so many other cool sounds like a rimshot and a shaker. And thx to the fx section and the dual delay thingy they sound pretty groovy. Btw that was the first time too for me that I spend so much time with the different types of noise in the gen3 section.
If interested I can ask Andrew if I am allowed to post my "Broken Acid & Broken Drums" demo I send him a few days ago (well now slightly different, more polished). Because it's based on an earlier build it might not represent her 100% anymore. But the "acid bassline" shows some nice new features from the built-in 4 (!!!) step sequencer. Don't laugh, it is actually a 16 step sequencer but you have to figure that out on your own.
Anyways, I am already a huge fanboy of her. My goto monosomething synth. And performance is even better than before.
Regards
Sebastian
