which is exactly what makes all of this fun, and interesting.... still, will try the twin2 demo again, am still looking for S1 replacements (maybe spire AND something else).

sylenth1: big shoes to fill...

EDIT: twin2 is not bad, will explore the demo some more...thanx...

everyone has an opinion LOL...

lol I don't think Sylenth or Twin are very analog sounding. However, I agree that both sound very warm (though Sylenth gets the win for overall sound). Given Twin's low CPU usage, I think it's a decent alternative. It's also deeper than Sylenth. But for the best sound, Spire is probably a better alternative (though Twin does sound great).

Seems like Sylenth provides the best of both worlds (sound + CPU).

personally, i don't care about, say, 'analog' vs 'digital', anymore than i care if someone uses a mac or pc. i care about how it SOUNDS to me, and i love the sound of sylenth1.

am considering spire AND twin2 (perhaps) to fill the gap...it won't be the same, but different is, on it's own, a wonderful place to be...

I completely agree. Hope I didn't sound like I was knocking Sylenth!

What about Massive? I like Massive too for those thick balsy sounds and it's pretty straight forward to use (I love the modulation system).

It's somewhat harsher and more "digital" sounding than S1, but it can cover some of its grounds pretty well I think, especially in EDM territory.. Hmmm.. Maybe Massive along with something like DUNE, which has a softer (a bit washed out to my ears) side covered, would be a nice combo..
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

i used to use massive, just burned out on it. twin2...not sure yet, but have about 28 days left with the demo. spire is AWESOME, but life-threatening cpu issues on a mac (hope that gets sorted out).

i sold my license to S1, but...lennard never answered me or the buyer about transferring it. frustrating.

Oddly enough... Diva (once you are considering a cpu killer like Spire)

Gladiator 2 is another one that can get some great sounds, and not bad on the cpu

I think the VA in Alchemy is very good and it offers so much more!

Can't agree at all, ANA just has different character, more digital and cold but it's not a bad synth at all. Actually, Sylenth is not an unreachable sonic paragon, it has it's own flaws (e.g., can sound very ugly at high freqs). At the end of the day, I prefer Sylenth for some sounds and ANA for some other sounds, they live well side by side.

TheoM wrote: Get ANA if you like hardcore aliasing.
No, it's not that "hardcore". It mostly shows up on some wavetables and the devs are aware of it and promice to fix it.

My own concern with ANA is only that it's too hungry. Also, it lacks in bass department, but I have other very bassy synths, so that's no biggie for me. However, ANA does lovely pads, supersaws and plucks and really shines at cold and angry digital tones.

I use the Tal-Noisemaker a lot, it's free and for some reason it sounds closest to my analog (Arturia Minibrute) out of any soft-synth I use. It has dedicated LFO's, effects, an awesome envelope editor, two oscillators and a sub. It is a very simple synth as well. I definitely recommend it, cheers! Here's the link...

Oops forgot one, if you're still looking in the free-game there's a synth called synth1 that can be downloaded right from KVR. It's a really powerful synth just like sylenth, everything can be routed and has dedicated controls just like sylenth etc. I'd say it's just as powerful as sylenth only con is the interface looks shitty as balls. But simple nonetheless. Good sounds.
