Voxengo span - nothing else. If i want to apply compression or any other processing over the whole mix (very rarely) it gets done within a folder/buss.

I keep a 4L there, sometimes an analyzer.. but the 4L is really just for the meter, dither (don't ask) and to keep exploding stuff from sending crazy clipping to my ears (kinda useful during development).. in practice I don't really use limiters most of the time (except for safety limiting, duh).

Just a bit crusher, I don't want anything too drastic
Only kidding
I have Melda Spectrum Analyser, Smexoscope, and a teeny touch of compression from DC8C

Reelbuss with 0 dB gain and Barricade with 1.0dB gain and a 0.3dB ceiling..
And SPAN to get a visual on what is happening at that point...
I like the sound of the audio passing through Reelbuss and Barricade is there to catch any final spikes and to tighten things up just a touch....
It works for me

I also like to use ReelBus, Barricade, and SPAN.
I'm pretty new to this though, so I'm still experimenting and learning my plugs.

I have Michael Gruhn's NullClipper on the master buss, just to keep the occasional audio bursts at bay when/if they happen. Oh, and Voxengo SPAN, yes, for a visual check up of the frequencies, phase, levels etc.

for me it depends on the track, but usually one or more of the following -
Slate VBC (Grey or Red)
The Glue (for erm, glue, if needed)
Elysia Alpha (for soft clip)
Slate VTM (if track has harsh highs or sounds too digital)
Fabfilter Pro-L (subtle final limit)
Fabfilter Pro-Q (eq tweaks)
Maag EQ (if I need to give the highs a little boost)

I personally use nowt or me dbx limiter for live gigs
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

I like to spread the final mixdown across 3 busses. In Logic this has the benefit of spreading the load across 3 cores instead of driving a single CPU core, and also sort of simulates working in an analog environment.
First bus: (Main)
First bus: (Main)
Into second bus: (To Tape)VUMT
Gain Staging
Waves NLS Buss
Neve setting
The Glue
SSL Buss Compressor
Into third bus: (Final)Fabfilter Pro-Q
Only used sometimes to add slight high shelf before tape emu
Reel Bus
Profession 30 IPS setting
Airwindows ADClip 2
Simulates A/D convertor clipping. Not always used
Fabfilter Pro-L
Final limiting

Hmm. This is very interesting re: CPU efficiency. I may have to try this!
