I've got one of the last budget racks somewhere in the garage, ESI-32 I think. I think that I will load up some piano samples in it, pour some molasses all over it, set it on fire, and try to get some good multisamples of the piano before it dies. That sounds better than anything else that I can think to do with it.

On a, only slightly, more serious note, I could probably make it a part of some sort of Burning Man art project as it doesn't need a cooling fan or anything, it should continue to work in the desert, and if someone steals it, I won't care. It will have to wait for next year though, I'm skipping this year.

I think I still have a K4r kicking around somewhere... I'll donate it to the cause... couldn't sound any worse in full meltdown mode...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

Korg M1 - it can be considered a 90's VST because it has all the M1 ROM cards + the T1 cards - a lot of which were released >= 1990.

Korg Wavestation

Novation V-Station - this is a Novation KS series emulation which had the Supernova engine

A lot of UVI products (Wave Runner, Digital Synsations etc.)

Depending on which sampler you use eBay is full of multisample packs from '90s synths (kontakt, sf2, nn-xt etc.)

And I think that many popular synths that use Wavetable or FM synthesis have sounds that might fit the '90s label.

CHEERS!

+1

The Industrial and Dance Drum sets are all you need for mid-90's goodness. Also, a 909. :D

Come to think about it, I've wanted Ravity S for a while. When did it go back on sale? :ud:

For anyone using Logic, this turns any instrument into an E-mu SP12:

Indeed, OTOH, the K3 actually sounds good because it has real analog filters. I still have a K3m in my rack.

I'm still hurting to this day.

I remember too clearly one disaster with my EMU sampler. I had all my samples loaded - all 8MB (ha!) of them, all on floppies - and ready to play during the sound check.

When it came to the actual show (televised) I sat down at my rig to find out that somebody had switched off the power supply and obviously all my pre-loaded samples were gone! So I'm sitting there frantically loading the samples again just as we were about to play. The thing is, even with 8MB, floppies take an eternity to load! The stage manager was furious and I almost collapsed...

You can't imagine my relief when I moved on to ZIP disks....
