Now, may we be permitted to get back to the original topic?
Pretty please??? :?

Thread destruction synthesis? :P

At least that's some form of distortion

I'd like to look at phasewave but its interface is a little bit too crowded for me to understand. MUX and Synthmaster have made their point with PD (though MUX seems to generate "rounder" waves/more low harmonics than Synthmaster). For me at least I think MUX would be the best choice of a PD synth. It's modular so i have complete control over my sound and it packs a lot more than just subtractive and PD synthesis.

Any counters to that? One could easily use the argument that Synthmaster (or some other synth they use) generates "sharper" waveforms and thus outputs a better sound.

What do you guys think?

I didn't even know that MUX has PD synthesis. Does it have all forms of synthesis now? FM? Additive synthesis? Granular synthesis?

Keep in mind it's not real-time synthesis. It's one of the transforms with the MFO. It works well though (see my comparison between MUX and Synthmaster here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0#p5987324)

FM - no (there is talk about it on occasion. Jo did say that if he were to implement it, it would be in the form of PM)

Additive - Kind of. (Right click -> Generate Via Harmonics. Informal Additive synthesis I suppose)

Granular - Yes I believe. Not entirely sure but the MFO does seem to support the likes of it (See the sources section: http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mux/multiformosc.html)

I'm still contemplating the upgrade to MUX 6.1

I guess I need to succumb to the GAS :borg:

The new Multi Oscillators with adjustable unisono voices (called "layers") and wave tables are worth it alone!

I bit the bullet during this sale.

Should have demoed it better, but I thought as it is 32bit/SynthEdit go well with FL Studio.

But getting huge CPU spikes, also when plug is idle ? :?

NeoGen has got updated to v1.1 which they claim has made big improvements to reduce the CPU use :)

So, I'm still grappling with the very basics here. Some explanations sound like PD is modifying the phasor in a wavetable synth. Others sound more like amplitude modulation.

On the wikipedia page it says the CZs could simulate a resonant filter with a hard-sync'd sinewave (with a period of the emulated cutoff), multiplied with a descending rampwave to eliminate the discontinuity. Is that not technically AM synthesis? At least the windowing portion.

What is the actual mathematical relationship between all the oscillators involved?

i'm surprised not seeing virtualCZ on the current list ?

Wouldn't an Allpass-Filter suffice ?

Check out my video about the Virtual CZ Synthesizer
My impression: it's a brilliant easy to use emulation of the CZ Synthesizers
