damn, that sounds AWFUL.
even worse than the promo videos for Sampletank3. :dog:
The ones WITH or WITHOUT Jordan Rudess? :P
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

It didn't have Jordan Rudess so that was a plus, though.
not yet anyway :hihi: :hihi:

Well, at least it seems they improved the GUI quite a bit which is good. Actually this made me interested. Maybe time to dust off good old Rapture and give it a try again. :)

Posted the same comment as el-bo. :hihi:

I personally look forward to this.
I have all three, Rapture, Z3TA 1/2 and Dimension so a better upgrade price would be appreciated here as well.

What I wonder:
- Is Z3TA also folded partly into the synth side of this? If yes, that would be quite nice. But since it isn't mentioned, I guess not :-)

- What exactly does that new vector mixer do - is it entering Alchemy morphing terrain or does it just blend between the 6 voices? I guess the latter?

- Can the fancy performance skins be built by mere humans or is only Cakewalk able to do that (including what parameter definitions should be there)? Could be interesting for 3rd parties...

But overall the update seems to make sense and may actually breathe new life into a somehow saled-to-death instrument that was much better than it's late reputation - I always found interesting sounds when I looked, but the GUI felt a bit clumsy and dated.

As for sales: I think it's possible that Cakewalk (or the new owners) finally realized that doing those supercheap sales over and over doesn't really help you in the long run. The new Sonar licensing looks like they try to get back to the middle. And this update to Rapture could also point there. So I'm not sure if there will be the same kind of sales again.

Early adopter reviews will be appreciated :-)

Cheers,

Tom

Cakewalk has had a rather strict NFR on their software earlier.

Is it still the same with this new product, or has this changed?
2.4. You may NOT transfer the Product. If transferred, in whole or in part, the original and subsequent owners forfeit all rights to use the software.

What makes it worse is that rapture and dimpro apparently did work if you had an older version of osx installed, by transferring the app and preference files or something like that, can't remember how it worked and I never tried the workaround. It was at the time one of the most pathetic displays of laziness I had seen from any company. Decided then that I will never buy another product from them again, and that's not gonna change!

The "Buy now"-button doesn't let me buy anything - hopefully their product is better than their webpage.

No, just Dimension Pro and Rapture. But you can use SFZ mappings.

Dynamic mixing (think vector mixing in the Prophet VS/Wavestation way).

That I don't know.

Couldn't agree more :)

I'll be the first to admit the site is confusing, but the way I understand it (may be wrong), the $ 20 you're referring to is the discount off the regular upgrade price; i.e. $ 99 is the intro offer upgrade price. If I've interpreted it correctly, the upgrade normally costs $ 119 at regular price. So you're actually getting $ 50 off the intro price (which is $ 149) for the full version (i.e no upgrade path). Whether that means the full version will be $ 169 once the intro offer is over remains to be seen.
