as an IT professional... you should know these types of things happen everyday...

things "always" fall between the cracks...

here are five numbers... 1,2,3,4,5...

show every combination/permutation without duplication and ommission of these five numbers...

that is just five numbers... imagine doing the same with all the variables in Omnisphere 2...

in other words... Sh!t Happens!!!

as an IT professional you should know that!!!

right? maybe?

:tu:
im no professional, it's just the way they handle this which pisses me off.
the Spectrasonics folder is not editable as writable so i cannot change the user permissions.
this is the first VST which has such massive rights problems....

Yes it's very possible for problems to happen but I think the point he's trying to make and certainly the one I'm tying to make is it's how they deal with the problems that matters. They act like you are ignorant when they email you (after waiting days) they are arrogant and avoid at all costs the real solution, a working installer. They admit there was problems with the first batch but they ask us to try and "rig" it to make it work. We shouldn't have to do that. It's easy to be an apologist for them when you received a working installer.

There were two communications from Spectrasonics posted on the previous page. I see zero evidence of supposed "arrogance" or making people out to be ignorant. On the contrary, they were both polite, appropriately apologetic at the problems caused and detailed with instructions.

If you still have issues, take it up with them directly. They will resolve them. Get them to call you and talk it through if needs be. I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of Spectrasonics customers would have had similar customer service to me, which has been quick and excellent. The title of this thread doesn't reflect the company I've been a customer of for years - I know they will do their damnedest to make sure everyone is up and running.

Yes, I get that you want a new installer. I guess they're working on it, but their suggestions they figure are the fastest way to get you up and running until that is ready to roll - little point it rolling it out early before its properly checked and making things worse. Spending more time talking it through with them and less time ranting here would be more productive IMO.

It seems to be just non-English versions of Windows.

3. You can also copy your full STEAM Folder to the same location on your second computer, then install the Omni 2 software with your host closed.
I keep a full install of STEAM for both Omni and Trilian on an old external hard drive. It's much faster than re-installing from DVDs and it means you don't have to do all those pesky updates other than installing the latest plugin for your OS. I'm glad this is an officially recommended option.

Spectrasonics support sent me the PDF document regarding the permission issue on the Spectrasonics folder.
It went OK.

Then I ran installer 2.0.0f (link included in the email) and all seems ok at this point.

Hey buddy, I have to eat my words, you were absolutely right. I just got off the phone with Omnisphere tech support, they bent over backwards to help me and were super nice and knowledgeable. I apologize for doubting them and complaining.

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=pe ... %5B5%5D%5D
that is pretty cute!!!

but showing someone else work could be pretty simple too...

my point is... sitting down with a pencil/pen yourself and showing the permutation/combination "yourself"... and not showing anyone else work...

but it does illustrate one thing... individuals are "always" looking for the easy way out... i.e. no "self" thought!!! individuals know more about mixing, eqing, compression, etc than the "actual music"... i.e. progressions, scales, chords, fingering, etc... because "so called" knowing mixing, eqing, compression, etc is easier to trick yourself that you know than learning about the "actual music"... what i find funny... the "actual music" comes before mixing, eqing, compression, etc... but individuals know about mixing, eqing, compression, etc... before the "actual music"!!! :dog:

sad but true!!!

:tu:

p.s. i would bet if there were a DAW to write "your" songs... you would prefer that over writing "your" own songs... SAD!!! but a sign of the tymes!!!

LOL @ english only beta testing... :tu:

Hello Spectrasonics, try open betas like others do (hello u-he, xfer records...). This also commits users to your products. :)

Good to hear you got it sorted with them, hope Caine has the same experience (and can change the thread title....)

i would bet u-he, xfer records, etc would love to have Spectrasonics customer base... i would love to see those companies stay in business while putting out a product every 5 to 6 years... :o

u-he's Zebra2 was released in 2006 and has had numerous free updates since then. It's also their #1 plugin by a large margin.

Spectrasonics is a good company and I like their stuff. However, there are other equally good instruments with a long life.
